the comic book this is based on is cool, but I don't see how it could be a satisfying film. it makes a lot of use of frames within frames etc and is a fairly short read. as an experimental short film it could maybe work but a Tom Hanks Hollywood film?

Imagine you have an old white liberal boomer grandpa named Robert Zemeckis and you’re with him watching a Rolling Stones cover band and he starts crying and tells you he doesn’t remember where he is anymore

There’s a subplot with a black family but they get really underserved

I think it’s easy to be snarky about this movie but I did find it lame in a sad and not wholly unmoving way. Picking on this is like picking on the elderly. There’s just no space for this type of movie in our world anymore. Sorry, we’ve left you behind Zemeckis.

S*** looked trash from day 1 smh. Self contained films with 1 camera angle only works if it’s in real time like Buried or Locke
