What’s so funny
Post your top 10 underground songs I guarantee u won’t
I gotta know what some of these “true hip-hop” niggas find fun to listen to cuz i can not imagine myself ONLY listening to “real” rap 24/7 ESPECIALLY in party situations
Lol...I literally predicted this type of response.
The funny thing is: Rap in the past was way more party friendly than today's rap.
Even hip hop DJ's today are saying that it's hard to get the clubs popping with today's rap songs and they have to resort to playing Afrobeat/Reggaeton/Dancehall or mostly female rap.
So, the songs OP posted likely ain't even getting played at parties like that. But I bet that throwback rap songs like Gold Digger, Hot N Herre, Wobble, Party Up, Always On Time, NIP, 6 Foot 7 Foot, Get Low, In Da Club, How Do You Want It, One More Chance Remix, and Big Pimpin will move a crowd more than a lot of rap songs today.
Female rap or Thot rap is deadass the main type of modern rap that gets played at the clubs rn. I'm talking from experience.
im all for supporting upcoming artists but this s*** is derivative and boring
this is because of how easily accessible making music is.
instead of developing ur own style u can look up “ken carson type beat”, download a preset vocal mix and send off to engineers to mix and master
low quality bullshit

I see what you mean
I feel like some of the music today is more of an acquired taste in a sense, like the opium rage songs or drill music
I know they still run up trap music time to time but I agree that it has gone down into a different direction, we dont have dance/party songs like the ones you listed nowadays
like i thought Yeat was satirical but now it’s just getting absurd at this point lol
He absolutely 100% was (or at least his music was)
I’ve seen this s*** happen so many times for years now. People ironically like an artist and make jokes and memes about how amazing they are and how they basically invented music (usually cause the stuff is laughably bad) then the people who aren’t in on the joke and don’t understand it’s a joke want to look cool and hip and start taking it seriously
I gotta know what some of these “true hip-hop” niggas find fun to listen to cuz i can not imagine myself ONLY listening to “real” rap 24/7 ESPECIALLY in party situations
I genuinely believe y’all have never been to an actual party before
People wanna hear songs they know, Songs everyone knows, That’s what brings people together. And lot of the time it’s older classics or huge hits
Nobody is listening to any of the s*** op posted at a party, They also not listening to Carti or any of his clones
Also the same argument could be made in reverse. Do y’all only listen to party music? You never feel sad and want to listen to sad music? You never wanna just chill and listen to chill music? If you’ve never had a piece of music make you cry or really hit you hard your lame and shouldn’t be on a forum trying to discuss it

“real rap” is definitely a stupid ass term but when people use it they don’t mean they only wanna listen to people talk about the social and political state of the world lmao
It means they like when dudes actually rap. Actually say something meaningful, Clever, Funny etc. Just something with some kind of thought and effort behind it
That’s why I hate when new rappers get the pass because “they ain’t trying to be lyrical”. Being lyrical doesn’t mean you have to be a f***ing philosopher. It just means actual effort
hip hop being so down the couple of years made me tap in into different music
and that's fine. That's good
Thankfully we still have Drake tho

Niggas like Carti and them have quotables/lines that resonate for days but yall don’t respect it because it’s not in line with what yall consider good rapping

The fact you don’t see the irony in “resonates for days” is comical tbh

I get whatcha mean by playing classics, i already agreed with other dude about that same point
When Die Lit dropped, i heard niggas run it up
I heard some WLR songs too
Im in SFL so niggas play a bunch of s*** here, i heard YB Latino Music and Reggae all in the same function
Sad music always gone hit but hiphop has that like i aint ever seen ppl say its missing that, the OP said hiphop is fun rn thats why i brought up party tracks

Last time someone said this I asked them to post some good Carti quotables and all they replied with was “Jump out the house”
Explain it to me
You’re admitting it’s microwave here today gone tomorrow music. It doesn’t resonate for months or years, but for mere days.

“For days” is a turn of phrase meaning a lot of.
A basketball player having post moves for days, a comedian having jokes for days.
It doesn’t literally mean days. I promise you’re the only one who took it that way man

Nah bruv, you woulda said “he has quotes for days”. Resonates specifically implies the amount of time for which they stick around culturally. It’s ok man, that’s what we call a “Freudian slip”

Go back and read. I said he has quotables/lines that resonate. I’m saying he has both of those in large quantity. I’m not saying the lines resonate for literal days lol
It’s okay to have been wrong man
Ngl it’s crazy that this has to be broken down like this for a grown ass adult
Hip hop is about how much mollies you can pop tbh
