After a culture has been fully commercialized, it dies.
Look at rock. No new exciting rock bands has come out in years

You probably just don’t like rock
Hip hop will never die.
The fact you equate charts with whether hip hop of all genres is at risk of “dying” tells me all I need to know
It was doing perfectly fine for decades without being the #1 genre in the world. It will be perfectly fine again. This is a necessary correction after years of outsiders and pop bullshit preying on rap
got em
Less ppl like 69 and other clowns wanting to use rap to get rich/famous quick
All them YouTube rappers, influencers who start making rap music
Less incentive for s***ty rap twitter pages that treat rap like a zoo to make content and thrive
These are all good things.
It wasnt YouTube rappers and influencers going #1 so this is a dumb take.
This is a result of Billboard changing the rules to help white pop artists compete against hip hop streaming and the mainstream industry actively ignoring hip hops emerging stars
Mainstream pop artists are re-releasing their albums like 8 times and remixing songs from a decade ago for tik tok doing way too much, rap isn’t gonna go #1 against that
^^ this right here
Unless he’s being produced by like a Metro, gets cosigned by heavy hitters in the game (Kendrick, Drake, Cole and Future) and can rap his ass off while being extremely creative then no lmao
How is that Kendrick cosign helping Baby Keem? yall GOTTA stop overrating this guy
that came and went
Then there were no events in the last 3 years. Is that what you're saying?
how can you like hip hop and actively root for the genre to die out?

Hopefully this is a sign that all the hypebeasts and vultures are finally f***ing off back to indie rock and other bullshit 🙏 this is a good omen that things are heading back in the right direction
https://twitter.com/hiphopalldayy/status/1661381416167383040Nah it’s just because nothing good has been released this year (2023) for hip hop
Hip hop is very cheap to make compared to other kinds of music. Since lots of hip hop does not have actual instruments being recorded it’s cheap and easy to make songs for it compared to songs that have guitars or musicians playing instruments and recording.
Because of this hip hop is likely to remain popular.

what rule you think thy changed to help pop artists?

And exactly where did I say any of that?
read again. Less of those clowns in general is good. Idgaf if they were charting or not

Less commercial success doesn't necessarily mean it's dying out
Less commercial success doesn't necessarily mean it's dying out
Just because it's less commercially dominant doesn't mean it's less commercial

Have you been to a Keem show and see how diverse his fanbase is? It’s definitely helped him out more than anything else would have lol what are you talking about?
Just because it's less commercially dominant doesn't mean it's less commercial
For sure
I don't think hip hop is becoming less commercial either tbh

If anything it feels like a lot of "underground" guys are on the exact same model as the popular guys.
durk prob will change this at least album wise

https://twitter.com/hiphopalldayy/status/1661381416167383040I will ring your f***ing neck out the next time you not only mention me to be sassy - but the next time you spin any point or statement I’ve ever made to fit some weird narrative you goomba peabrained condescending little s***
Hip hop declining in popularity is good for the genre
Rock music declined commercially and the genre is very healthy right now. Sure the commercial fanfare is gone but the actual music is fantastic year after year
Only time commercial decline genuinely hurt a genre that I can think of would be jazz. Damn shame.
