Hard to swallow pill: and I say this with all due respect
But if these niggas was the big 3, hip hop was already stagnant to begin with
To add on to this, It's funny because by admission of most X fans, all of his albums were trash compared to his soundcloud s*** so technically speaking he was already "falling off" musically while he was getting on
that’s not wrong
after his mixtape era i couldn’t get into it anymore
Uzi
X
Juice
These 3 were gonna be the leaders musically, aesthetically, and culturally for they’re generation just like Drake Kendrick and Cole.
X and Juice dying really f***ed up the game.
And I feel like they’re lack of energy negatively affected Uzi’s artistry cuz he hasn’t touched LIR2 since.
Lil Peep dying plays a part too, say what you want but that emo/rage SoundCloud era was different unique and spoke to a generation just like the blog era spoke to mine
Current era we in has no direction, no narrative. Everyone just putting out projects and songs just cuz
Carti lowkey the only one keeping things interesting.
Culture would’ve been in such a fascinating space with X Uzi Juice Peep and Carti leading the way.
Nah
I still have love for Uzi but he's wayyyyy too hit or miss, always championed him for his potential but he never got consistent over the years of being in the game
X is one of the most overrated rappers ever, all his projects are as well. Had a lot of half assed ideas, sure the kids loved him for some reason but there's been so many rappers who spoke on stuff he spoke about with a more clear vision and with better raps to match. But i'm aware he was still young and could improve. I didn't like his production mostly either but his singing voice was actually really nice
Juice i agree on, freestyle monster. Addictive flows and melodies. Versatile. Great ear for beats. He could have been something great but the projects he dropped before his demise were subpar in comparison to what i believe he would become later on would he have lived longer to flourish more
The emo music gets old fast, if those niggas were the big 3 then what does that say about hip hop

all 3 of those artists did way more than just emo music. plus rod wave and youngboy running s*** rn and that’s majority of what they make

Rod Wave gets made fun of cause of that.
Nobody likes YB for the emo s*** if anything that would be a nice switchup.
That nigga all he do is write diss songs lol

Yeah but people criticize Rod wave for that s*** too tho lol. Saying all he make is sad songs.
YB is pretty diverse tho I wouldn’t say he really makes emo music
pop smoke had a better claim to a top 3 spot
i knew people obsessed with his music who didn’t even know he was dead
It’s the Hip Hop listener that’s stagnant. Y’all expecting the radio to find your next favorite lmao

idk man this got more views than most of his diss songs
That’s where you’re wrong. In the areas I frequent, Rod Wave and YB are very popular with people aged anywhere from 10-40+. Again, there’s certain areas of hiphop where if you’re just not around that crowd you won’t know just how big it actually is

!https://youtu.be/OuJd3cLBWHABecause the controversy of how uncomfortable the makeup was to dumb “im so secure in my masculinity” ass niggas

This is true.
I notice people mostly complain about popular music but there’s an endless amount of underground niggas to discover.
Put your Spotify on shuffle and find out

you going door to door doing the census for rap fans?
If those were the new big 3 then the genre wasn’t going anywhere anyways. RIP tho.
