Hip hop is dying because Mexicans listen to Mexican music and burna boy is popular
Man I know this is not how you interpreted that. I said that’s what people can prop up now they’re more open minded to non hiphop stuff cause hiphop going lame left a hole
Idk if that's neccesarily reason. People just becoming more open to global music as international artists get more buzz out here, and those international artists are hitting markets that wasn't really touched prior to streaming era
Glad your articulated it 🫡
But I'd even go a step further and say that the large group of Latin Americans (generalization) stopped being a large consumer of rap because it was getting stale, and went back to its roots which was having a Renaissance on the behalf of hip hop culture (which you covered)
Perfectly put. Now things are more open to going back to the roots (which is what *non indie - since it needs to be said - hiphop may need to do, No oldhead s***)
EDIT: WHY would non-well known niggas or underground rappers be included in this, use your f***ing brains use some common sense this only applies to mainstream and generally well known rappers

Literally no point for the profile pic
Niggas listen to 5 rappers and want to complain about hip hop.
Not to worry i posted a picture of myself
I don’t think Hip-Hop is dying as much as I think the commercialization of the entertainment business as a whole is dying a slow death
If you can’t create superstars, I.e. creating artists, actor, and actresses, who people want to put their money behind, then obviously it’s going to die at some point.
Social media has killed it. I think the entire industry completely underrated how important romanticism and mystique is to the success of the industry. Talent doesn’t matter as much as ppl think as it pertains to the success of the business. Without the ability to create new stars the industry will kill itself.
TikTok isn’t an avenue for attracting new listeners long term, they just know the sound/dance and move on

Tik tok is perfect for where the industry is at right now. The focus is on the hottest, quickest songs since it can’t be on the artist anymore.
But that has a tipping point. Can’t rely solely on viral singles. We love the Drake’s, 2pac’s, because we bought into them. Casually speaking, most ppl do not buy albums because of the music is just THAT good. They buy albums because of who the act is and what the act represents.
Eventually, the reality of not being able to break new acts in the form of selling actual records will rank the business.
It’s the same in the film industry as well.
Whatever op says I agree with
gay vibes

That mouth looking kinda cute so I’ll listen otw to work monday
I don’t really listen to new hip hop anymore unless it’s by artists I care about. Hip Hop had its turn as the dominant genre, it’s time for the next genre to have its turn
It lasted longer than it shouldve. The game been stale for a min now
We on that latin wave now
Corridos are what the streets playing
When you say “we” are you speaking on latin people?
but is there a next genre that will take hip hop's place?
would love yall opinions on what that is?

this scene is the only reason i still listen to hip hop
granted this type of music isnt for everyone but the underground is thd only reason i listen to modern rap
Artists ain’t for the art anymore
It’s all for clout and memes and money
No one tryna make classics anymore
Just a viral song
It’s not even the lack of artist because there’s great artist coming up right now. There just aren’t many platforms anymore. The only platforms we have are podcast that cater to nonsense and gossip.
Before 2010 we had BET, MTV, Nahrigth,2dopeboyz, Source and Vibe magazine.
And all these platforms highlighted all the variety of hip hop artist and music scenes. People only care about street rap and dance songs now.
Hip Hop will need a renaissance in the next few years if it wants to see past 2030. There not only needs to be new artist but more platforms and curators
The consumers is the problem. No one wants to listen to a new experimental hip hop artist or something left field. Just give them some street s***
