rap is going thru the same thing superhero movies are going thru rn, where both have been on top commercially for so long people (aka non black casuals) are getting sick of it. it really ain’t that deep lol. it’s okay for us to do something else

part of the reason for superhero fatigue is that s*** is so formulaic as well
i think people don't wanna admit it's the same for rap music too, the mainstream stuff at least
It lasted longer than it shouldve. The game been stale for a min now
We on that latin wave now
Corridos are what the streets playing
You crazy
What labels these niggas is dropping hits before they get signed big dawg lol
Exactly and that’s why they never drop another hit again that’s my point.. most of them are ass..
We in the same place as rock was for a minute where all the best dudes are older. I almost typed 30+ but really them niggas older than that!

i agree, and that’s another reason why i think rap losing relevance in the mainstream is a good thing. there will be less terrible culture vultures and rappers, i think, will be willing to take more risks and experiment
and i know yall don’t wanna hear it, but women are carrying rap rn, and without the influx of women rappers rn rap would be in an absolute horrible state.
people always get dismissive when this topic comes,& yeah of course you can always find some great stuff, but the guys at the top end of this genre aren’t pushing s*** in any particular direction they get their numbers & dip, younger hip hop artist that aren’t that responsive to the precedent they set, maybe it has to do with the overall climate of the industry, but this is the reality of things
Also Ktt in the gutter wtf is this thread op weird asl
how is this weird
since Atleast like 2021 hip hop has been on the decline commercially for streaming, it’s why we’ve seen the resurgence of pop/country back in the BB top 10 instead of it being majority or all rap like it was 2017-2019
musically.com/2022/11/01/trapital-report-explores-why-hip-hops-market-share-is-declining
op only meant commercially, not the entire genre as an art form.
Several articles already on it
Wouldn’t necessarily put it as the genre denying, more along the lines of being in a decline where the idea of a superstar is becoming obsolete. With the help of streaming services and niche media/communities, people found their music and don’t find desire to gravitate to the most popular act as a result.
Literally no point for the profile pic
I was high as s*** it’s a schtick, I get high and make a vocaroo thread then post a silly pic
most of hip-hop fans can't let their fav rapper or "rap era" go and listen to upcoming rappers and new trends, sad...
I don’t think Hip-Hop is dying as much as I think the commercialization of the entertainment business as a whole is dying a slow death
If you can’t create superstars, I.e. creating artists, actor, and actresses, who people want to put their money behind, then obviously it’s going to die at some point.
Social media has killed it. I think the entire industry completely underrated how important romanticism and mystique is to the success of the industry. Talent doesn’t matter as much as ppl think as it pertains to the success of the business. Without the ability to create new stars the industry will kill itself.
What actually happened is that there is no more homogenized pop culture. Everything now is catered to individuals so without that community, everyone just goes their own way.
Who care y’all niggas make listening to rap your personality especially y’all niggas who listen to underground s*** and y’all white boys who think it make u unique

Take it easy my guy.
It’s not hip hop. Culture is dead. There will never be a vital music or art movement again
Latin music isn’t the replacement, social media is. People will still listen to music but the need for it isn’t the same. Social media has replaced the desire for art for most regular people. Music is just a secondary thing, something for the background of a meme.
In the past decade, any intelligence and consciousness of the public has been conditioned out. Art can’t thrive in these conditions.
The corporations won
