    It’s not disingenuous

Could you see Pooh Shiesty doing a psychedelic rap album? Well at that.

    He evolved and it shows

He only gets to get away with making a Tame Impala type beat Puff Daddy and The Family esque album because he’s a rapper so yes. Pooh Shiesty could autotune harmonize over Tame Impala type instrumentation and hire singers over it if he had an incentive to try and expand his fanbase beyond what it currently is. In his own way he has “content” that his fanbase comes to him for that Yachty’s doesn’t come to Yachty for which is why Yachty has to do these “I’m more than a rapper” tricks while doing s*** that only a rapper can get away with lol

If he would have rapped seriously over tame Impala beats to begin with in 2016 he wouldn’t need to artistically reinvent himself to be taken serious. The QC budget he got from his pops being a LaFace photographer would have worked the same lol.

    s***s all marketing lol

    Puff Daddy

Outsourcing all of the creative work beyond the concept of “I want to do an alternative album” the same way Puff needed to do a solo album after BIG and got everyone else to do the actual creative work and it benefited his brand immensely

I'm old enough to remember Hip Hop pre-Eminem.....and I can tell you the culture was a lot more fun before labels and artists started catering to casual white fans.

I'm perfectly fine with Hip Hop falling off the mainstream radar

Those years were a good mix of mainstream and underground but late ‘80s is so pure. EPMD >

    no denying it? watch me

  • I think rap is fine. Some years mainstream dominates and others you gotta dig a little deeper. I think the biggest issue is the mainstream production.
