They for sure do! Just not used in the same way. Lots of old Kanye beats have 808 sub kicks layered in for bass and stuff. New work out plan does and lots of other older ones.

And 80s rap songs and 90s southern rap songs use the legit 808 drum machine which is where the term comes from
