Revisiting it lately it’s just not that great imo

His vocals already feel stale, just a future impression nothing boundary pushing minus a couple moments

The beats are ok but not that crazy, it feels really boring to me today. It’s sad where we’re at that this is a “groundbreaking” album

Its not just the music tho.

It was the execution of the vision he had. He nailed it.

Prolly harder than any rapper has ever nailed a vision in the modern era.

I agree tho musically Die Lit is a overall more solid experience.

Can’t deny its influence but influence is not inherently positive we gotta let go of that a bit

Gonna be the most overrated album this decade

Exactly, what we even talking about “history absolving it” when it’s already the most praised album on reddit.

WLR is the new Yeezus: a surface level attempt at experimentation that fools the casuals into thinking it’s more innovative than it is.

It is influential no doubt but people act like it completely changed the whole genre

When in reality it’s only influenced a small sub genre

Yall say this like chart topping rappers arent hopping on rage beats its not a sub genre its the direction that rap appears to be taking

Yeah, the quality of what was influenced doesn’t really matter

but what its influencing doesn't have any true impact its not really changing the sound or the landscape of anything.

Yea he’s in a VERY fortunate time of his career if this is the album getting all the praise

Means that all he has to do on his next project is have it be slightly better and he will be god status

  • Feb 12, 2023

Like what is it gonna take for yall to stop acting like rage type beats are a niche genre the opium niggas might be underground sure but the style of music itself is mainstream

When the biggest artists out right now are straight up copying the style, production & vocals, yeah it does though. XXX was mad influential and still is, doesn’t mean the influence was actually quality

If the sound was consistent and full of just New Tank, Rockstar Made, Stop Breathing, and On That Times I’d understand the hype

But bro felt like mixing in a bunch of Eternal Atake type beats in there for some odd reason in what is supposed to be a hardcore album

I agree, I like many Carti offspring. I listen to Unotheactivist all the time

But I’m saying it’s so much more to influence and ppl throw that word around a lot like it’s Teflon. You can argue a reason that millions of niggas built success around copying him is because the sound is very easily replicable
