Detroit beats have rhythm down wayyyy more than the bay

    There’s more percussion/drums too

They got so many different sides of their scene to me

Like the Flint beats just go hard

Then there’s the violin beats that sound like your waiting in someone’s bushes tryna be quiet. Those might be my favorite

    And sample beats

But they all got that same kinda Detroit flare somehow

    Exactly

The bay just keeps doing hyphy things because artists just cycle through and don’t have time to develop

95-2010 bay area has some of the best rap oat hands down. The talent pool was crazy and I'm still discovering classics to this day.

Also it's gotta be noted that a lot of LA's sound is a result of the bay. Greedo, YG, Shoreline Mafia, and Schoolboy Q mentioned being influenced by artists like Messy Marv & Young Curt. Mac Dre might be the most universally loved rapper by other rappers. Even Drake is a known fan. The Jacka is also loved by a lot of the hip-hop head rappers. KA, Gibbs & Killer Mike are fans of his.

While the bay may not get much love from the general populace, it definitely has reach

No clue, I’m from the bay and always hoped we’d have a respected mainstream lyricist like Kdot Cole etc

Calm down brother I’m from Detroit so it’s my obligation to keep the conspiracy alive. Mostly kidding tho, I know there’s a deep bond between the two areas, I just feel like Detroit rappers offer what Bay Area ones do but have a bit more mainstream appeal so that kinda makes it hard for NorCal ones to succeed

Stop bro no dividing the Bay & Detroit lol but yeah I think y’all do it better tbh it’s a lil more gangsta then in the bay and a lil funnier with the punchlines
