One of my high school friends who I’m fairly still close to has been trying to do this music thing for about 7-8 years, mind you he’s never been good but he’s kept trying. Fast forward to 2021 he’s now releasing tracks and man I get second hand embarrassment listening to him do this….he has not improved AT ALL. I really don’t want to come off as a hater but now he’s wanting me to collab with him. What would y’all do?

It sounds like someone who doesn't listen to rap hopped in the studio for a freestyle then mixed & mastered on their own .
