Thank you for the historical correction about Mullahs power.Do all Islamic governments practice Sharia? I'm kind of confused on the macro level view.

The classical sharia law is exercised in Saudi and some Gulf states and afghanistan during taliban reign. By classical I mean the exact 7th century replica i.e cutting a hand for stealing and a foot for breaking in etc....
Iran practices a toned down version but it still has many of the same characteristics. By toned down I mean they don't cut hands but would Flogg someone for drinking.
Keep in mind that Islam has different sects and each sect got its own sub branches. The interpretation of sharia law differs based on which party is in charge. With sunnis the wahabbis are the hardcore ones.. with shias the hizbullah are hardcore.
ISIS and Taliban are hardcore Sunnis

Another business that Mullahs been historically a pioneer of is Sighe "Nikah mut'ah" business. Sigheh is a private and verbal temporary marriage contract that in which the duration of the marriage and the mahr must be specified and agreed upon in presence of a Mullah.
Historically group of Mullahs used to go to impoverished villages and cities where muslims and non muslims lived (e.g. the historical city of Kerman) and run s***slave rings. Most recent times when the Qajar entered Kerman they were very impressed by the mullahs and their s***slaves! They legally prostituted and shared the girls among the princes. Qajar dynasty was pretty nasty they were very religious and Mullahs run s*** back then. Looking back at how much land they lost to brits and soviets in a short span of time is crazy.

In Iran villagers dont give a s*** about religious rullings anymore.. Khomeini used that to get a following by using that rhetoric back then (because he lied and promised free gas and electricity) but nowadays the villagers are the people suffering in iran. The ayatollah in charge and his burgeoise Basiji party i.e. mullah's offsprings own all the import export rights and foreign European luxury cars. The farmers are constantly f***ed over by government legislations. The farmers and laborers lived better lives under the Pahlavi dynasty compared to the Islamic regimme.

What I'm trying to say is that if you ever plan to visit Iran visit the villages cause those people are the real ones and the most hospitable people and a good representation of what Iranians are like
