I work a 9-5, 40 hours a week job, and attend school full time at night

    It’s a challenge but doable.

I started and ran an interior design/building business for a couple years. It’s been a great ride but scaling in my city is tougher than expected. Contractors are wishy washy and I’ve never met so many unaccountable and non credible people in my life. Before I started resenting it realized I had to take time off. The last big project we did was last fall/winter. Family’s house caught fire and they had to be placed back into their home by New Years 2019. I gave it all I had, even worked 24hrs straight. Doing finish trim, kitchen and bathroom installs. I’m accustomed to puttin in 12-16 hours to run a business but this year I’ve accepted I gotta adjust and keep movin. Gonna stack up and continue with my plan.

That experience was in some sorts my college and I’m a thankful for it.

I got ya. Definitely stack up and readjust. Working a 9-5 can be taxing. I guess it depends on what you are going into.

How long did it take you to get your business up and running initially? Interested because I am taking a serious look into entrepreneurship going forward.

Man, the initial was about 3 months. State paper work, building clients, networking and creating a schedule was about 3 months. It’s free and liberating to be an entrepreneur, just scale accordingly and don’t put the cart before the horse.

Thank you. Going to use this as motivation. Never had someone in my family start a business so it’s a new thing. Don’t really have someone around me currently to give advice. But I’m learning what I can.

I know a large part of the process is just going for it.

    How long are your classes?

    2 hours and 40 minutes

They are only once a week, but if I take 4 classes, I’m out the house from 7:30 am to almost 9 at night lmao

Luckily I have 2 online classes this semester so I only have to be physically in class 2 days a week

So got 2 days a week, over half your day is taken up by work and school, that's not even including your commute and studies

Yeah, I gotta find a non sales related project. It’s up my alley as it’s B2B for a golf course. Love playing golf, figured it would be dope. Every call I make, I’m thinking to myself, like this is really for my detriment. Like these calls coulda been made for my business and or a better cause.

F*** it pays decent. Gonna stick it out this week to assess if it’s just my ego or not.

Make breakfast every morning, potentially do some exercise.

For lunch take part of your break to meditate, do some minor exercise (stretching, pushups, ect), writing, drawing, ect. Don't just spend your break eating or being on your phone.

After work go directly to the gym, grocery store, park, bar, ect. If you go home maybe a 10% chance youll go back out.

When you do finally get home, put your phone/comp away for a bit and just unwind for half an hour.

On the weekends, make sure to keep active with hobbies. Its tempting to just sleep or play videogames, but try and stay decently active.
