I don't think much of it. I do notice its mostly teenagers who do it. But personally I don't see how it's a bad thing.

to me, that seems like it has nothing to do with personal pronouns though, if you work with a team then it’s likely people will refer to your group as such then, no?

now lets talk about the weirdest s*** you can find on bios and that's "Loving husband. Proud father of 3"

  • Oct 15, 2020

i think it would probably be easier for you to, in this example convo, reply to "oh he did a great job in representing his client in this case" with "thank you, but it really was a team effort" or something to that effect

So we shouldn’t do anything good because it might not work? Lmao

i just don’t think you shouldn’t be cooking niggas who don’t if it seems impractical and there fallacies in the explanation of the theory. that’s why i compared it to BLM because i feel the same way about that, and it directly pertains to me. the bio warrior s*** is the wack part

serious q for people bc i think this is relevant to the OP: as a cis-gender man, would it be wrong for me to change my pronouns to they/them?

im still not seeing and valid arguments other than to spare the feelings of others online. which isn’t really as productive as one might think. just because everyone has BLM in their bio doesn’t mean there aren’t still racist mf’s in my southern city. that s*** looks good but in my opinion there hasn’t really been much of a change from it, so obviously i’d think pronouns are practically useless, i just think it’s a smug way of saying i’m better than you because i do this and you don’t. same with BLM a lot of the times. again, i came itt for insight and i haven’t gotten much from you

a smug way of saying i’m better than you because i do this and you don’t. same with BLM a lot of the times.

I understand that you might perceive it that way but I don't think it negates the benefits of the action

For instance, imagine if right after the segregation era (US) restaurant owners critiqued other owners for allowing "colored people" in their restaurants/shops on the premise that they're only doing it to look better than others (virtue signaling), make more money etc

Yes most white people were still racist and yes it benefitted whites owners from allowing more people in but it doesn't negate that it helped black people at least get acces to better produce (groceries) or schools etc (in my hypothetical example)

When it comes to blm I'm 100% sure that there are better ways to fight racism then putting 3 letters in your bio
But when it comes to gender it's not just 3 letters

It's language with which you adress them : sir/ma'am/miss/he/she/they are means used to adress a person

Names/nicknames/titles (dr/professor) are other means (non gendered issues)

Adressing as in acknowledging their presence and their identity within the group

If you were an officer wouldn't you like to be called one as to validate your status within the group?

    If you're a man wouldn't you like to6be adressed as such ?

For cisgendered people the gender pronouns go without saying but were dealing with a group that either doesn't identify with what they were born with (biologically) or do not identify with a gender at all... For those individuals I don't think it hurts to get to know their pronouns

I imagine that any confused person would ask the trans/NB person how they prefer to be adressed just to be polite

Well with the pronouns in bio thing they're basically making it easier for us:
"here's what I go by who don't have to wonder anymore"

It's also a way of coming out

    "in case you didn't know I'm a he/him"

For the "it's only on social media" well most social circles connect on social media, you might not talk to every class mate/co-worker but you can acces their social media profiles in a heartbeat, it'll indicate you who's what (social status, personality and know even gender that you'd assumed anyways if they were cisgendered)

Women who have those medical issues tend to disclose them + I believe just like transwomen they're in the minority same goes for men who aren't fertile and transmen (who got rid of their reproductive organs during transitions)

As far as I'm concerned ; an overwhelming majority of women still can have babies( or assumes they can)

The problem is, no one is really concerned with minorities to change their worldview or how they go about meeting their partner

    • Most see it as an inconvenience since they can just choose to ignore trans people and deal with cis gendered women (I believe this is why transphobics keep living unchecked, they just avoid/dismiss the cause )

    • Also "women who can't have babies" is a vague statement ;
some permanently can't which is always empathized with and usually disclosed during serious a romantic relationship
most however have a harder time which is also empathized which resulting in getting treatment/medical assistance to bear a child (most partners are very supportive in this)

    • Solution : trans people need to get supportive partners and for kids (if they can't have any) adoption is a very noble (imo) route to take, voilà

    that's a big assumption there

approximately 11% of women experience infertility issues
it's about the same in men too
