my father had dinner a couple times with fidel, he's always held him and che really highly. i believe castro was taken advantage of by the soviets and the way he treated the cuban people was a biproduct of that.

yes he spent some time in cuba in the 90's as a writer and cigar lover, made friends with many cuban/american diplomats including the man himself
