I'm surprised more instruments aren't being used in trap. We had the flute wave

Zaytohven does make the best trap beats as a result of using instruments imo. Don't know why he's so slept on.

iirc Uganda Yandhi was supposed to use a lot of live instruments, as well as nature sounds from around the recording studio.

“He has different studios set up outside... there were times when we were recording vocals and we would get the nature sounds, you've got to actually be there and be present for it to be authentic... you could YouTube some ape sounds or monkey or bird sounds but to actually be there, on the Nile River, not everyone gets to do that so it's best to utilize that and take advantage of that in the moment.”

album never came to fruition tho

Yeah you can hear it on tracks like Hood Politics, small things like that add so much to a track.

OR they lazy as hell but also artful sampled the whole ass drum track from an old song and just slapped it on the new beat

that s*** still make me feel weird like yea we can collage some s*** together but...

Yeah, it is live instrumentation jazz rap with experimental elements on top of it. Sterling James deserves major props for that. Boldy James sounds real nice on it too, fits the off-kilter production style I wouldn't expect from him

Live instrumentation needs to come back real hard.

Depends how they do it, can be seen as lazy but I'd much rather people sampled organic drums than what we have atm.

More specifically Neo-Soul, which is known for it's live instrumentation and organic sound.

    Amazing album

In light of modern hip hop becoming stale, always found it odd that artists don't incorporate live instrumentation more like they used to. It gives songs a much more organic/dynamic sound, artists like Kanye, The Roots, Little Simz, Kendrick, Digable Planets etc have all included live instrumentation in their music which in turn is now seen as their best albums.

    Thoughts?

i hate it when the original song doesn't have real instruments..i seen wiz live and he came with a live band... the 808's snares kicks dont hit the same i hate it..

its great but its obviously pretty hard to pull off so I can't really complain we don't get it that often. Just be happy that we have some great projects w it

A lot of the times the live performances with an actual band sound much better. Maybe more artist should do more live albums.

There’s not enough, hip hop is becoming stale because there’s not enough innovation, artists have become so lazy.

S*** feels so raw and sounds so great. Spanish Joint was the song they did in one take too

  • Oct 21, 2020

I feel if any artist would do it right now it would have to be Tyler or Kendrick

  • Oct 21, 2020

Depends what instruments and how many instruments.

Also live instruments on a track means that the artist has to actually say something rather than the basic rap s***
