Some of it is simply to fit more in a shorter video, but really to this is nothing new. When I was a kid I was listening to nightcore. And Florida has been doing this for years.

But it was some random b**** who performed the song and did a whole goofy video for it with like 10x the views of the original Frustrated me that I couldn't even find the original song without specifically putting the artist's name in Google, someone else stole his whole song and was way more successful with it
