    Dopamine detox some pseudoscience tbh but being acutely aware of the hedonic treadmill and the effects of supernormal stimuli are super important to maintaining discipline.

    I mean from a strictly neurological sense it doesn't alter the brain in any way other than releasing less dopamine. Like it doesn't have some magic 'reset' effect. But it does have value in the same way Stoics practice intentional discomfort to better appreciate what one already has. In the same was a fast can make you appreciate food, a dopemine 'fast' can help you to better appreciate the smaller things.

    It's just when I hear it mentioned it's often by the pseudo-science-uberbro-silicon-valley-entrepreneur-microdosing crowd and it sets off alarm bells for me because it's not a magic secret but it does have demonstrable value in a metaphysical sense.
