So many factors at play. If the genre is in the hands of kids born after 2000 it's not in good hands.
It definitely won't be in good hands when kids born after 2010 hit the scene.
I see street rap evolving into some form of stripped down electronic dance music. Think Baltimore/Jersey Club music
The drill beats are gonna continue to evolve and it'll just be electronic music essentially.
I can see Playboi Carti being the biggest artist in the game. Unless someone else comes along.
Your probably spot on,the 2000’s kids are the all play,no work generation so everything will most go electronic with them.
the whole pandemic/class struggle going on around the world is probably gonna bring out loads of frustration / anti-authoritarian feelings outta the next gen of rappers, it’s super tough to predict tho

I used to think that too. But the pandemic really changed things. They know there is no secure future for them the way things are now so it's they'll present their hip hop differently than older generations that we may or may not recognize as rap.

You would think. But I don't see a politically driven culture for hip hop in the near future
I think it'll become more nihilistic than anything

It’s either all electronic production or some form of punk rap that’s actually just noise with no refinement(but it will get praised). I know what your saying tho
Rap as a whole will be on a popularity lull again like the late 2000s, but still very present in the pop style of the day. What I mean by that is less Rapstar #1s and more feature verses like the late 2000s Wayne feature run.
We’ll be experiencing pretty unignorable climate crises and I’d expect that to be reflected in the music of the time. Imo one of the more likely sounds of today to be directly influencing the sound of 10 years from now is the Earl/MIKE/newer Injury Reserve kind of experimental rap. IR’s latest in particular feels futuristic in that vein to me.
Overall, I see rap heading toward where rock is now. A genre that massively influences the mainstream/pop sound, but doesn’t necessarily click as much with the youth except for in subgenres and critical circles. Granted that I’m biased in wanting to see this given my profile pic, but I see non-EDM electronic music being the dominant genre by then. Like I’m imagining the most generic early 30s pop song could sound like an early James Blake or modern Quickly, Quickly track structurally, which is to say it directly includes hip-hop percussive patterns and possibly even vocal cadences but is distinctly more pop than rap.
Also Nav will have inspired an entire generation

people said this about trump getting elected as well lol

brown boys gonna take over
afropop will have a larger presence
2000s nostalgia will begin to decline after peaking

Most of this description sounds a lot like kpop today
Nonexistent, along with the rest of humanity
This also not unlikely

ahh i did a thread about that whole trump punk prediction and how it never happened, i think today’s a whole different situation tho
it’s not just an election loss that they’ll be dealing, there’re so many other overarching issues at play now

I can definitely see a lot more black people doing punk pop soon. It’s gonna be corny tho and lack a lot of humor and artistic expression cause this generation just doesn’t have it man.

it’s definitely possible, idk kids definitely feel like they’re more politically literate now than they’ve ever been before
i’m holding out hope that they channel their emotions in an angry constructive way instead of despair & nihilism. need to have more Public Enemy type s*** out in the world now more than ever

it could go hit or miss, for sure. kennyhoopla’s tape from this year def showed how to do the whole modern pop punk sound well, hopefully it goes more like that
