Man it’s like as the years go by we’re in a constant decline, I don’t think we’ll ever revisit the prime times

Probably not. Most of these guys really can't rap worth s*** anymore, they just rely on the beat. Yeat blowing up proves this point lol

I think he dropped a whole ep @YoungNastyShawty put me on in terms of the delivery, that angsty white kid s*** will either die out very quickly this decade or last throughout it. depends on how the public receives the 2000s nostalgia.

Hope it dies, black people cant say their taking back rock by trying to sound like Blink 182 lol. It’ll be a complicated task to get actual urban black people into rock but I know it’ll have to have blues infused into it to work. And also,I will check that ep out soon

Makes you appreciate the dudes who made this s*** look effortless back then. I remember older people around me always use to say Jay-Z just sound like he’s talking on a beat and in my mind I’m like “you try to talk on beat motherfucker”

Not at all people would still want authenticity in hip hop in some form

    yeah definitely

hatsune miku type stuff works in electronic music but that AI stuff would be a bit too weird for hip hop , maybe it’d work in experimental rap but idk

Exactly, but at the same time I’m still glad the underground will be in a good spot (hopefully) and we have access to all these older music too

Exactly, the actual rapping is honestly just leaving more and more while dudes are relying more on their voices for melodies or whatever

Like yeah it can be cool but it shouldn't fall under "rap" because they are putting it up against guys like nas or Kendrick or whoever that you can't compare them to..

Can see it going one of two ways

Huge fatigue in the mainstream to where only random weird hits become phenomena among the population (sorta like mid 2000s) and the underground has lots of interesting new sounds playing off what was popular in the 2010s.

    Or

The rappers are going to become even more cookie cutter and every mainstream act that sees immense success will be a damn near carbon copy of someone from the past two decades but less interesting and more palatable to the masses.

the best part of a yeat song is yeat himself his delivery and rhythm are genuinely great imo. in terms of writing, he has some quotables here and there (“imma get a million and open the world’s first lean bar”) but overall he isn’t saying anything that people haven’t heard before. his best selection is good too but I’m telling u, what makes yeat special is himself he’s like early future and early-mid career thug if they were in trainspotting

we already headin that second route

every new gen artist, especially coming from the underground, isn't really unique, they just sound like keef/carti clones, i feel like due to this, we will basically have a big fatigue in the mainstream and everything interesting will be happening in the underground

The reason I brought him up was that he's not really anything special but it's to the point where people are just kind of rehashing and recycling trends now

You're right like he's probably the best part of the music but the beat also does carry him

Would rather see rap get better sub categories so that people wouldn't compare apples to oranges and it would be easier to find music you liked!

Forreal,it’s a different type of swag and bravado that goes into what Nas or even Kenny does. What Lil Baby does is not good rapping, under that autotune,he’s trying to hard but he’s considered a good rapper now smh.
