idk man i think nas is such a good rapper that he can make any beat sound good. i didn't know that ether beat was ass until i heard Remy Ma rap on it. its the opposite with Jay for me. He can become boring if he's not rapping on Kanye, Pharrel and Just Blaze production. He has a very good ear for beats. Determining who's better "musically" is weird cuz i think nas is a better rapper than Jay at almost every category except making commercial sounding music

i think his fans overate his lyricism for sure because he's not as commercially successful as Drake or Eminem, not as lyrical as Nas, or influential artistically as Wayne or Kanye so they have to give him this "amazing at everything" argument for his goat status. The truth is he's a great lyricist who dumbed it down for the public and got extra sales for it. no need to retcon his career as this rapper who was putting out lyrical masterpieces. That's Nas for me
