Long album cycles and being lazy aren’t the same thing.
That being said you aren’t the GOAT if you drop albums then hibernate IMO, but that’s just from me growing up as a Wayne stan and watching him out rap niggas every other week.
(In on another Kendrick critique thread tho, and thread critiquing him is bound to pop off)
They don't have to. They're legends in their own right already and no one would dispute that. My point is that they've remained more active than the rapper who makes GOAT claims and has remained quiet in the last 5 years (which are his prime years).
Okay and what does activity have to do with making good music
Id rather take one amazing album every few years over back to back trash anually
youre just being contrarian for the sake of it

This s*** is insane everytime it’s posted lol.
Op the type of person they would make a black mirror episode about
Kendrick is one of those lucky artists that can do no wrong to some people. He is the critics little darling. Remember when Drake took a small break and the whole industry was talking about him falling off?
Kendrick has to come with a certified classic due to the long break.
“Bringing up the fact that someone makes really good music in a discussion about music is pretty foolish”
Making good music doesnt mean youre a good musician
Obviously im a better artist than Lauryn Hill if I drop a bunch of garbage beat tapes on Soundcloud every day
Anyway OP will look stupid when Kendrick drops
the real only thing that kept kendrick back is Covid
he's staying mysterious for 2 whole years because he doesn't want all that juice to be gone by appearing everywhere before an album drops with a tour
hopefully we get that in 2022, but we would've got it in 2020
Yes. Every rap album doesn't need to be a classic to be enjoyed, especially for any rap artist who has already established their legacy. It just needs to be good enough.
my condolences if you think all those albums are “good enough” by any metric
You keep ducking the point, but that's okay.
It’s not ducking the point. Why does Kendrick need to be consistently active? Maybe he’s gonna keep dropping music for 50 years. Kanye also took significant amounts of time off between projects
You’re also acting like this isn’t a thinly disguised “Drake has a better argument for GOAT” thread, you just used the (bad) examples of Eminem and Nas to try and argue your point so you didn’t get clowned for it off bat
If y’all wanna keep spazzing out tryna make y’all’s best argument he ain’t a goat or he ain’t top 5, go ahead and enjoy y’all selves while you can
Cuz we all know soon as he drops this s*** will be deaded
Kendrick cool but a GOAT nah.
This is all I'm saying lol. I'm glad someone gets it. I'm not even talking down on what he's already released. I even said those projects are all great and fine.
I'm saying you can't make GOAT claims when you're still in your prime and you're remaining inactive when your peers (who are also in GOAT conversations as far as your generation is concerned) are remaining active and dropping good music. It doesn't work lol.
Work ethic matters, especially for someone still in their prime years, I don't care what anyone says.
The same marketing team that brought you success stories like Reason
Kendrick got the Aftermath thing going for him tho
Why is anyone claiming to know Kendrick’s prime when he has yet to release a bad album?
Kendrick got the Aftermath thing going for him tho
True I just found it funny how messy TDEs marketing is for them to be saying that
Kendrick is one of those lucky artists that can do no wrong to some people. He is the critics little darling. Remember when Drake took a small break and the whole industry was talking about him falling off?
Kendrick has to come with a certified classic due to the long break.
Drake taking a break isnt why they said hes falling off
They said hes falling off because hes making songs like Rachet Happy Birthday
ignoring the stupidness of the take, kendrick's generation kinda passed anyway
like how many hip-hop acts are going to at least compete for a #1 spot on billboard or classic status with an album 10 years after their debut. there's a few but not many, even those that dropped classics at some point. you're crazy if you think kendrick isn't in that select few too
I don’t get why people use the amount of time between albums as a barometer of success. Every album Kendrick has dropped has been a certified classic. Honestly everything he’s dropped since O.D has. When you have a run like that you’re in the conversation no matter what. Kendrick could never drop another album again and he’s still in the GOAT conversation period.
Drake taking a break isnt why they said hes falling off
They said hes falling off because hes making songs like Rachet Happy Birthday
So we ignore the classics he dropped in the same album - 3 classics to be exact - and decide to say he's falling off cuz of 1 bad song? You can hear how unfair that is, right?
