her music being better or her being better looking is your opinion
and tinashe is successful, let’s be clear about that
but the real reason why tinashe isn’t as big as rihanna is probably because tinashe didn’t lock in on a specific image and connect to a niche besides just her general fans.
rihanna came in as a barbadian teenager with a single called “Pon De Replay” lmao so instantly she’s catching support from the west indies and fans of that style of music. and you gotta remember reggaeton and dancehall was having a moment in the years prior. timing is everything. as time went on, she kept delivering smashes which elevates her to pop stardom, and after the chris brown incident she literally makes a song called “hard” with a mad max themed video and a jeezy feature that makes the distinction that not only is she to be regarded as an adult, she’s an edgier artist. the chest tattoo and piercings and nude photo shoots continued that and a lot of women identified with it.
tinashe came in with a song on a mustard beat. not much of a niche when he was the most oversaturated producer at the time. then we get to the travis scott photo and the toilet licking photo... if she was trying to come off edgy it just didn’t land.
i’m not a fan or hater of her music, i think it just comes down to marketing, timing and label support. you also gotta remember rihanna isn’t just successful, she’s one of the biggest artists of the last two decades, especially when it comes to volume. it takes more than hard work, it takes some hardcore fans, charisma and God’s favor to last that long at that high of a level. we better off not comparing and just appreciating artists for what they give. it’s hard enough to make albums and videos and a rollout, then to have to reach beyonce or rihanna? idk tinashes goals but not everybody even thinks about that as much as just leveling up personally.

Very well put
Both Tinashe and Rihanna started at the same level
Rihana just kept on delivering hits n leveling up
The more hits she came with the more leverage and power she got in the industry
Its as simple as that. If Tinashe kept the momentum rolling after 2 on with smash after smash she would be on that level.
Rihanna has great singles and that's what holds her bc her albums are trash. I think its just popularity throughout the years that's made people gravitate to her
Tinashe is more creative. Rihanna has hits but Tinashe's discography is more consistent. I don't have to skip songs on Tinashe's projects as much as I do Riri's.
I think its just a timing thing along with marketing because Tinashe has the same visual appeal as Rihanna. I'm not saying she doesn't deserve her success, I just don't have a reason as to why everyone is on her d***
i know its hard to comprehend for virgins but you dont just become a superstar for being hot, personality is much more important in this day and age. better to look uniquely average than generically hot.
Rih put out 3 albums in three years and she didn't become Rihanna til Good Girl Gone Bad.
This is the Uzi vs Yatchy debate. If you blow up with projects vs a hot song. When I heard about Uzi he had already put out LIR and was working Uzi vs The World.
Tinashe is definitely better looking
She looks like a basic ass lightskin girl next to ri
B**** looks like Gollum with makeup and a weave on
Watch who you callin b****
Tinashe and Rihanna are two different types of fine, don’t compare.
Also this, simple minded niggas itt
A lot of reasons why but the main one is the timing just wasn’t right. She came out in 2014 which was a time that r&b/pop era was fading. With Weeknd/Party taking over the dark/wavy r&b vibe. People were tired of that because so many artist emerged from the 2000s that did what Tinashe tried to be. That’s something that Tinashe isn’t anyways but had the talent/looks. Therefore the label tried to push her to be a pop star.
Rihanna is the Queen of pop smh
Rihanna is an icon but the QUEEN is JANET DAMITA JO JACKSON!
Can’t be based on looks since Tinashe is better looking. can’t be based on talent since Tinashe makes better music. So what is it? My theory is label investment. If Tinashe has the roc soldiers behind her she would be rihanna level rn.
When rihanna became a superstar during the GGGB era she had to fight her label to release the image and songs she wanted. She made her own personal investment in her image/music and nearly went bankrupt because of it.
She has style, presence, character, and catchy music so she has been able to maintain popularity.
Also does anyone wanna mention the elephant in the room? A certain incident that took place that catapulted Rihanna into stardom?
She was a superstar before that
plus rated r was the album released after the incident. It only sold well initially because people wanted to hear what she would do after the incident. But it wasn't that popular of an album until rude boy helped it gain more momentum

All of this
Rihanna got the voice, flow, look, aesthetic
Tinashe is just boring
the VOICE? she's got a unique tone but she's not a skilled singer unfortunately.
she is more interesting and has more of a personality than tinashe tho
