A lot of reasons why but the main one is the timing just wasn’t right. She came out in 2014 which was a time that r&b/pop era was fading. With Weeknd/Party taking over the dark/wavy r&b vibe. People were tired of that because so many artist emerged from the 2000s that did what Tinashe tried to be. That’s something that Tinashe isn’t anyways but had the talent/looks. Therefore the label tried to push her to be a pop star.

Soon as she got some fame, she immediately tried (or label forced) to white wash herself. When that ain't work she tried to go for the sexy street Aaliyah blueprint. When that ain't work she pivoted to something else. She just don't know what or who she wanna be.
