Tinashe has zero personality. Idk her as a person and really dont care at this point.

Rih Rih is the homey. Shes relatable to her demographic in a way few are.

She's not obsessed with a perfect image, shes too busy living her best life.

That's why people embrace her the way they do.

Rihanna didn’t have a personality when she first came on the scene. She was basically another pop star to come out in the 2000s. It’s not really fair to compare them anyways because the music industry was vastly different when they came up.

There's even more ways to express individuality and personality with social media so that's no excuse.

    Tinashe just ain't got it

She showed personality through her art, that’s why she had a fanbase before she got signed. Her problem was nothing was clear because she was in the middle of being someone like Frank Ocean or trying to be Britney Spears. Those are vastly different personalities and in the end, it makes it seems like she has zero personality because she lacks an identity.

    Tinashe ain't signed to HOV.

Tinashe ain't have The Dream write her career defining hit.

This is pretty astute. She has no sense of identity trying to be all things to.all people.

Rihanna found her vibe and doubled down on it. The label made sure Good Girl Gone Bad was gonna hit. They invested into her and it paid off.

Label is clearly not all in on Tinashes career. Prolly cause of the lack of identity. They just throw s*** at the wall to see what sticks.

The label part is what the biggest difference between the two. Labels had way more control in the industry when Rihanna coming up. They were able to produce pop stars left and right , then it was up to the artist to see if they would last.

Tinashe was coming up right before streaming era and labels were vastly losing control and the artist had more power to expose themselves through SoundCloud/social media/Youtube. That’s how Tinashe was able to establish a fanbase before even being signed. The label tried an aging approach and it did not work. Tinashe also played a part of it as well because Britney Spears is one of her biggest influences along with Janet. She definitely had pop aspirations herself. The whole thing was basically a disaster and feels like a failed experiment. Which is unfortunate because Tinashe is more talented than just about all her contemporaries.

how tf did trav pull tinashe AND rihanna

  • cherry

her music being better or her being better looking is your opinion

and tinashe is successful, let’s be clear about that

but the real reason why tinashe isn’t as big as rihanna is probably because tinashe didn’t lock in on a specific image and connect to a niche besides just her general fans.

rihanna came in as a barbadian teenager with a single called “Pon De Replay” lmao so instantly she’s catching support from the west indies and fans of that style of music. and you gotta remember reggaeton and dancehall was having a moment in the years prior. timing is everything. as time went on, she kept delivering smashes which elevates her to pop stardom, and after the chris brown incident she literally makes a song called “hard” with a mad max themed video and a jeezy feature that makes the distinction that not only is she to be regarded as an adult, she’s an edgier artist. the chest tattoo and piercings and nude photo shoots continued that and a lot of women identified with it.

tinashe came in with a song on a mustard beat. not much of a niche when he was the most oversaturated producer at the time. then we get to the travis scott photo and the toilet licking photo... if she was trying to come off edgy it just didn’t land.

i’m not a fan or hater of her music, i think it just comes down to marketing, timing and label support. you also gotta remember rihanna isn’t just successful, she’s one of the biggest artists of the last two decades, especially when it comes to volume. it takes more than hard work, it takes some hardcore fans, charisma and God’s favor to last that long at that high of a level. we better off not comparing and just appreciating artists for what they give. it’s hard enough to make albums and videos and a rollout, then to have to reach beyonce or rihanna? idk tinashes goals but not everybody even thinks about that as much as just leveling up personally.

    why she licking tiny toilets

She came out around 2014 though which was still around when labels controlled s***. She has a smash hit with 2on. Now imagine if she was a roc nation product they would have been able to mold her into what they did with Rihanna—the whole good girl turned bad b**** treatment. And she’d be a mega star by now.

Was Rihanna always a product of rocnation though?

  • rihanna been fooling niggas w her “””singing””” for decades lmao

Yea rihanna was around before roc nation when it was a roc a fella

Her first feature on a major album was Memphis Bleek album

Can’t be based on looks since Tinashe is better looking. can’t be based on talent since Tinashe makes better music. So what is it? My theory is label investment. If Tinashe has the roc soldiers behind her she would be rihanna level rn.

    Hov's lil' sister.
