that was a misunderstanding I believe, even Vanessa Beecroft posted the actual inspiration. im sure everything is fine now
I hope so bc I love both of them so much
and then came Blank Space and showed how a mainstream version of Pure Heroine could sound like, meshed with Max Martin's genius

Perfect pop song
This thread made me a Lorde fan. Great job bro. I attempted to listen to melodrama for the first time last year and honestly, it just didn’t resonate with me. I’ve never sat down and listened to pure heroin but listening to some of the tracks here within the context of what’s written has given me a new appreciation for her as an artist. So I commend you for that.

glad to hear it
Nice read but James blake, the xx and jai paul arent electronic and they definitely aren’t all the same genre
U could label flume that but he makes different music than those 3
S*** the xx too
Only james and jai id classify as the same genre and it’s definitely not electronic. Alternative RnB or indie if u had to
Safe back with another great thread
Free chloe
Also a melodrama piece and how it’s basically blonde 2.0 would be GOAT
Lorde is talented but she really loves biting from other acts 😅
Anyway she’s young af and honestly if i was 19 and a popstar Id be influenced heavy af by all these great acts i listen to

Oops I didn’t even see this
I think it’s hard to label as a single genre for any of those artists
Flume obviously is mainly electronic but he wasn’t an influence
All those guys - Burial, James Blake, the xx and Jai Paul all come out of the same scene - that UK electronic/dubstep/garage merged with R&B and Pop. I’m just choosing to put them under the label of electronic but I’m talking about the elements that all of them share

That’d be tight
I do think that both of her albums are pretty original - your average person probably wouldn’t pick up on how Melodrama shares a lot of stuff w blonde and it’s also worth saying that a lot of melodrama was recorded years before blonde
Need one on Billie Eilish and Kanye too, i feel like it’s even more clear how hip hop created her
Another Safe classic
Damn @safe you went off. That was a really good read. Thankful for people like you, @Ithaka and @AudioConsulting adding in-depth music discussion.
