He used to be on there calling sonny digital or whoever at the time broke for making like 70k a year and swore by type beats and tutorials lol. Crazy how he became the next industry producer and birthed the wannabe nick mira sons you talking about. Not knocking him just crazy sequence of events relevant to this topic lol

I remember watching Taz Taylor give tutorials on how to make those “type beat” videos those guys had zero artistic integrity in what they were doing. I get it’s a business but they didn’t give 2 s***s about music as an art form whatsoever.

The problem is how people approach loops now

When people would sample from vinyl back in the day you didn’t get to pick exactly what you wanted. You threw on a record, heard some cool s*** and said “I’m gonna try and flip this”

The same when loops first started poppin off. Frank Dukes and guys like him would make some cool s*** and send it over to Boi-1da or Dahi or whoever

But now it’s become super specific. “Oh I’m sending beats to X and he likes X so let me pull up a hundred loops like that”

I was plugged into the cracked game and reddit kits circle from the start, all my first 2 year s*** in HS was all stolen shout out the homie that hooked me up with FL10 in like 10th or 11th grade it was UP from there

i then learned how to do sound design and mxing all on my own because i sucked ass at working with samples and pre-made loops that werent mine so i was forced to learn how to do everything from the ground up, or sink, i became a vst fiend to this day

I’m telling ya when people start to study the fall of modern music they’ll see that where it all really went downhill was when being a musician meant being a content creator. Literally too the life out of music.

Great music could still be made with loops, problem is the main culprits of this method usually have that stupid “grind” mindset and don’t really have an musical ear or know music enough to get as far as they do.

Their skills are networking and getting noticed, not the music but the threshold for talent is so low nowadays that anyone in the right circles could get lucky and end up with a placement and start a semi-legit career from there.
