PEOPLE DON'T GIVE AF ABOUT A F***ING RAPPER. THE PRESTIGE IS GONE, BEING A TOP RAPPER MEANT YOU WERE A REAL POET OVER MUSIC,. THIS GENERATION DIMINISHED THAT THOUGHT PROCESS HEAVILY, CAUSE MOTHERFUCKERS WANTED TO BE CARTOONS AND INSPIRED BY SOULJA BOY.

IT WAS BOUND TO DIE AT THIS RATE, THE OLDER GENERATION TOOK RAPPING SERIOUSLY AS AN ART. RAPPERS NOW PLAY WITH THIS S***, AND MAKE STUPID MUSIC.

Do the fans get any blame for the direction things are going tho?

Or is it strictly just the s***ty rapper? Somebody gotta be listening to em right?

There’s a reason why Mase can do this decades removed from his prime because he is a rapper first and also someone who grew up through love of the genre not an end to means. Of course inherently hip hop and money are tied but you can tell dudes who genuinely love what they do and have put in the countless hours of studying and perfecting their craft rather than dudes clocking in to ouch the same 16 over and over again

Nah this cold, im talkin bout other real rappers who still stuck at a certain level, despite being consistent

Both, white kids leaned heavily into the most stupid aspects of rap for jokes, and bigged up street rappers that should've stayed in their place. The fanbase switched, a bunch of motherfuckers that just wanted some s*** to play loud with their friends while they hang out and be degenerate. Add in social media and hive mind and yea, Hip Hop becomes the biggest meme in the world.

On a serious note tho. Hip Hop has been getting worrisome the last couple years. The threads are warranted

Ehhh depends where you’re looking. If only top of the mainstream/superstars, than 100%. Anywhere else though there’s loads of great artists.

True that bro just care about this s*** too much to let it not continue to live on in perpetuity

I'll say this, all of the most culturally popping genres (Jazz, Rock) usually have 30 years of relevance before they start to fade

This might be a tough pill to swallow, but we might see Hip Hop go through it's final moments at the top before another, completely new genre takes over

    Depends.

Quality wise, 2021 and 2022 >> 2020 as far as volume of good albums.

    Might be true commercially though.

  • Oct 6, 2024

    I don’t think it’s currently dominant.
    And that’s okay, imo.
So long as there is a lane for people to express themselves through hip hop and it’s possible for the true stars to break through for real, I don’t think it’s that bad for hip hop to not be “on top”

  • Oct 6, 2024

It really depends on the labels and artist development. Very little label employees have an idea of what they are doing and are lazier than ever. Fix this and hiphop will always be a force

When a genre becomes number #1, that’s when it starts counting its days

A genre can’t be number 1 without mass exploitation & the watering down of quality, the effects of capitalism to put it short.
