It's lowkey an addiction for me lmao last night in ohio was wild

    ohiochannel.org/video/ohio-redistricting-commission-9-15-2021

Maybe im just a loser but i just get high at night for the big hearings like this and it never fails to suck me in like a reality tv show

just throw a senate/house session on the tv while im doing other s*** and soon enough ive got people to root for and against

obviously it actually impacts our lives and thats the main reason im watching, but you all should give it a shot if you dont already lol. trick ur brain into being entertained by it and end up being up to date on your state's legislature

it also impacts you much more (directly at least) than federal politics. idk again, maybe im just a weirdo but i was just too high and into it last night to not make a thread

last night they had a constitutional deadline to vote on new district maps by midnight. whole s***show leading up to this that i cant explain in a post but i was just glued to the tv watching all these motherfuckers try to explain themselves. The governor sounding more depressed than he did at the worst of covid, the democrats having to interrupt to remind everyone "we dont agree with this" awkwardly as hell, the sec of state trying to act depressed while voting for the maps etc

im sorry im not expecting anyone to watch that whole video or even 5 mins of it but i need to try to find someone who watches this s*** like i do cus my friends all think im insane. its like my favorite show at this point

why I follow other provinces ? well its nice to know how its going on over there and whats affecting them and the hotbed situation. Also helps with judging federal parties especially since the elections are going on right now in Canada. Using the NDP as an example, theres a problem in BC about environmentalists and a logging companies, the majority of NDP supporters in the province and country wide support the environmentalists, however the provincial NDP support the logging companies and the federal NDP gave their unconditional support to the provincial party. This situation helps me understand the NDP better as another party that isn't really a worker party that they like to claim to be, which I would have never gotten if I didnt pay attention.

pretty interesting tbh love finding stuff that I wont ever find in mainstream like Canada imperialism in Africa through mining companies. Can also get spicy, Trudeau ran on replacing our FPTP voting with proportional but completely abandoned it once elected. Promise to not all an election during a pandemic but did and we're supposedly in the middle of a fourth wave. The conservatives been going hard on the lying aspect of Trudeau. Also never forget the blackface Trudeau lol.

Aboriginal politics can be depressing, I think now like 70ish% of First Nations lack drinking waterway better than the 90% at the start of the liberal government but apparently it was way behind the supposed plan that government had even before corona and the fixes done were more short term rather than long term fixes.
    Heres the article for that:
    theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/30/canada-first-nations-justin-trudeau-drinking-water

Then there was also the whole oil pipeline through indigenous lands that most indigenous didnt support being made in their land, funny enough when I tried to find the exact numbers of support and disapporvement from the natives I found a link from Canada energy centre that in their graphs for some reason didnt count 104 First Nation groups lol.

The best joke I heard about our politics and statehood is that Canada is three mining companies in a trench coat pretending to be a country.

there's a IG page that posts all the politics out here

Sometimes, like my state just voted to defund planned parenthood a couple of days ago, this wouldn’t of been able to happen if the covid regulations and s*** didn’t get so political

  • Sep 17, 2021

I do but it's depressing. It's all about either building new prisons or passing absolutely monstrous versions of what should theoretically be good laws

Very weird reaction to watching your state continue to be gerrymandered, disenfranchising a lot of poor and POC people. It's not a show on the CW.
