The mix on birds especially is so f***ing terrible, I used to listen to that album on s***ty earbuds vibing heavy on my way to nightshifts but after upgrading to actual good earphones these vocals are borderline unlistenable.

isn't mixing the overall process of levelling the different elements, applying the correct amounts of EQ and effects to the tracks, making sure the overall balance is sounding good

and mastering is simply the final hurdle of getting it to sound correctly through different systems and getting the tracks ready for physical pressings & streaming?

if so, the mixing of birds and astroworld is much worse than its overall mastering.

and mike dean also mastered these 2 albums so its (somewhat) his fault in one way or its (somewhat) his fault in another way
