Considering the fact that the silence has been there since the song was first made then yes it was a choice maybe a bad choice but a choice nonetheless

This is the only version I knew of before the official release and it doesn’t have the pause. I even remember trying to find another version because I didn’t want to rip it right from YouTube but I couldn’t. If there was another version with the pause I never heard it but I remember people being surprised by the pause, even from people already familiar with the song
