Idk my best bud lived in the inner-city here with me and he moved up near traverse City but more country. S*** is mad cheap when it's not vacation season there. He just wants to enjoy nature and kayak or fish or disc or snowboard whenever he wants without dealing with too many people

His house was insanely cheap to get too

I imagine he got tired of the inner city and realized a more "country" lifestyle would be more simple and affordable. I guess coming from the south, living more simply and whatnot, makes alot of people wanna test the water and live in a big city. Im cool with just visiting and being a tourist.

I realized liking nice things down south is different then liking nice things in the north,a long time ago

He just hates the city. Hates a lot of the people, hates the traffic, hates all the annoying parts of a big city

He's always been that dude who just wants to fish for 8 hours a day on the weekend and go work trades during the week. I think us working in trades made him despise city folk the most when we had to drive all around this city everyday

Lot of people I was in high school with went real rural too afterwards. But that's kinda how Michigan is, maybe it's a culture thing here. My wife grew up in an affluent city and most her friends also went balls deep into the country as far as they could go. They all just want to throw keggers, grow weed, and never see police lol

Yea,I don't blame em lol. I think the end goal for everyone right now is owning land and building the house of your dreams on it. Thats why so many young people are moving to places like Tennessee and what not,big enough cities and cheap living. I mean,it would be dope to have an apartment like Frasier in NYC in 2023 but,who tf is gonna afford that s*** when GQ couldn't even calculate how he afforded his place way back then lol

My wife and I want land to let our dog run on and to have a handful of animals. We want ducks too

    Idk about building though

Smart choice, fuck a luxury apartment, invest in something thats yours for as long as you want it,it only makes sense at this point with how the economy is going. Couldn't imagine having a super nice apartment during arguably, peak NYC(90s)

Yeah our current apartment sucks ass lol. Sometimes I fear the kitchen ceiling will fall in cause rain can leak through

One buddy of mine is dropping like 2k/month on this tiny luxury 1bed/bath apt just cause it's right in the middle of downtown. He wants to buy a condo there smh...

I might buy a trailer. But idk. There's good parks out here but lot rent sounds awful. If I bought one this month vs redoing my lease I'd pay the exact same, but with a better living space - until they up lot rent

Gonna wait 10 months and see what I have saved...

  • Aug 5, 2023

After rent and other bills 2.2k then half of that to savings

Not gonna lie, right now,I live in a small-ish house that was inherited to me,my dad owns the land. I pay every bill in there tho,and i've renovated s*** on my own. Its honestly a good deal,no one is really close to me on the land but I have neighbors,if anything happens.

Just keep working on your living situation bro,all this luxury stuff is played out, people looking for necessity these days. Everyone likes nice things but it has to make sense ya know.

    That's dope man, for real

Yeah I don't really do any luxury stuff lol. My friends always want me to go get high end food and s*** but I rarely have time for anything from work/school just taking up so much of my time

I still feel guilty buying baulders gate 3 like 5 months ago lol

Yes,the more I become financially educated, the more I realize how valuable it is to have a house(of any kind)passed down to me,had to grow up alot ot get it tho. Anyways,I say reward self as much as possible man,Its difficult to work any kind of job/career and not see the merits besides "paying a bill on time". Whether its buying a new video game, copping some new gear or trying a new food place,I reward myself with something every week.(within my budget of course)

During COVID, i learned that 60k a year is probably the minimum to where you aren't just barely scratching by, having to be super frugal, eating ramen for lunch etc. But this is just for my area for a single person.

Nope, that salary not happening in the North. It all depends on quality of life and what type of environment your looking for. A quiet small town, living in the country, nothing to do vs always being able to find something to get into in a big city. I think every small town person dreams of living in NYC/LA but its not vice versa with a person living in those major cities.

That's because there's better opportunities in big cities.

People don't have much opportunity to find success living in a small town, they usually move there after the success. Or if they're a true country bumpkin they made their worth working some crazy labor job for 30 years.

Definitely this too, small towns is alot of local business and hard labor, college kids want something else

  • ye bully mode

Yeah, I grew up in a decently sized metro area in Michigan and probably wouldn't ever like living in the country. Every time I go stay in a small town I always feel isolated af. Plus everything is a ghost town after like 9PM

Really makes you realize how nice it is to be a mile away from a major retailer or random downtown attraction. Which reminds me I gotta go to ribfest rn s***!!

$800 from each paycheck is not enough ? Goddamn if I had $800 from every check to do whatever I wanted I’d feel like I’m ballin out of control

$800 more than double my paycheck, if we talking direct conversion

  • Aug 5, 2023

Monthly earn of at least $4000+

    Then after savings, bills

    Maybe $1000
