As long as I can comfortably listen to it in the car I dont care. I love Jay Elec album but its hard to play in the whip
Nothing matters anymore the kids are listening to YouTube/sc songs capped at 128kbps off their skullcandy ear buds
I feel like they never got the mix for Blue Pill right (they released it like 3 different times) and that sucked for a song that was delayed for like 5 years
thought that was kinda her thing
even the song that went viral sounds like it has a weird mix
it’s different
don’t give two s***s about mixing provided it isn’t egregiously terrible, i like lo-fi amateurish mixes
I'm a huge stan of Flying Lotus and all of his best projects are super compressed, I think the only projects by him that aren't terribly squashed are UTQC and Flamagra
With that being said it never really was a make or break thing when it came to how much I enjoyed his projects
man i grew up listening to madlib and wayne tapes that sounded like they were recorded on a toaster. didn’t even know people cared about mixing and s*** until i got on this site
MBDTF and Yeezus are also albums that kinda fall into this category I think those were intentional though
Means Nothing at all and i hate ppl who nitpick
Imagine hi fidelity glock40spazz. It wouldnt hit the same without cheap mics
Dijon went to the next level when he stopped giving a s*** about mic quality
Theres plenty examples where "bad" mixing actually helps a song and examples where clean mixes ruin what the artist was going for
All in all do what the song call for. I aint tryna hear a punk song with an edm style mix
i feel like this post started off saying "it means nothing at all" and then gave examples as to how the mix/decision making process does matter quite a bit. am i off?
i just hate when songs in the same album have very different mixing/audio leveling
Sometimes the mixing isn't bad, the choices are intentional and niggas just dont like said choices lmao
i just hate when songs in the same album have very different mixing/audio leveling
I swear on album’s with bad engineering, it’s always one song mixed by a different engineer than the rest of the album, and it’s always the song that has the best mix lol
It depends. Sometimes s***ty audio adds to the charm like a lot of Gucci or Chief Keef tapes. Then there’s Vultures 1 and 2 which just sound lazy and flat
