I think Drake fans are going to be in for a rude awakening sales wise from here on out.

    1) It's 2025. Sales are a horrid barometer to measure...well, anything. It means nothing unless you're swift and Drake is not swift. Weeknd did under 400K first week and Drake will for sure do under that on his next solo flagship LP. It's an archaic way to measure 'hot' and relevancy.

    2) Drake out of his commercial prime and unless he actually tries to be an actual artist within the infrastructure and lean into his skillset, you will continue to see his singles and first week album sales trend down.

They say this for every single album he releases and he still goes #1 every time. He hasn’t been dethroned and there’s no one close on the horizon.

200k is the absolute bottom number here. Valentine’s Day drop with a 2 weeks promotion is all he really needs. HNM did over 200k with 0 promotion and 0 notice. Say what you want about the beef, but releasing immediately the Friday after Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance people will be tuning in just to see what Drake has to say. I’m betting it does closer to 300k.

  • will be surprised if this sells anything over 130K tbh

Lol they say this for every album...Who said he was going to be dethroned?

He's still a superstar rapper. He will still stream incredibly well, especially with the back catalog that he has.

What I'm getting at is a matter of fact. Take a look at FATD first week sales vs CLB vs Scorpion, etc.

Take a look at what his recent singles and loosies have done versus his prior work?

He's very clearly out of his commercial prime unless he plays ball and actually participates in the industry. He has the talent to do so but is an outlaw in a way that's counterproductive to his success. He isn't bigger than the program.

It's not the same climate as it was for HNVM believe it or not.

EVERY year sees an increase of people using streaming vs buying albums. That materially impacts 1st week numbers and is a huge reason why 1st week numbers are in decline for everyone year over year.

I would be STUNNED if this did 200K first week and if it did, it should be touted as a MAJOR win.

Drake stopped promoting and working his music actively years ago brother

    Literally what I'm getting at.

He stopped playing ball a long time ago and that was fine, when the consumer still yearned for his new music.

They still do now a little, but his pre 2020 catalogue does A TON of heavy lifting for him. That's what I mean by him being out of his commercial prime.

If he wants to change that, his best shot would be to actually be a signed artist. Submit singles to the record label, actually assist in working the record(s), big budget videos, etc.

Way more than GNX...Drake has 108 billion (with the B) Spotify streams. His average fw is 400K, plus all the attention is on him rn and everyone’s waiting for his big comeback. 400-500K minimum, imo. The 108 billion streams tell you everything. No excuses.
