This man really said Frank Ocean is the counterpart to Taylor Swift and Beatles to MJ

Best post in the whole thread.
@op kinda contributing to the problem with posts like that 1st post lol.
Except the fact is Franks music is never going to get him the type of success that Taylor's music can bring her. I don't see the comparison in any way.
Its a very basic concept imo.
When has success in music ever been related to talent anyway? Regardless of race, never.
“ When has success in music ever been related to talent anyway? Regardless of race, never.” - it hasn’t.. it’s great to know that no implication of this sort was mentioned
“Except the fact is Franks music is never going to get him the type of success that Taylor's music can bring her.” - Well duhh.. you’re responding to notions in your head that i never created.. almost like you’re arguing with yaself lol😅
“I don't see the comparison in any way.
Its a very basic concept imo.” - I’ve made my point of comparisons clear several times, bo. almost to the point sterility ..either yah rockhead stubborn and don’t wanna see or you’re you’re bit delayed. ..third option is you just wouldn’t make the comparison or don’t agree with the examples.. if that’s the case, then opinion yourself da f*** on, brudda🙃

“@op kinda contributing to th @e problem with posts” you responding to an assumption made about me.. since the amount of merit I place on an artist personally isn’t based off commercial dominance or white ppl opinion.. lol I’m pretty sure that I sing and dance better than most of the right side sans Celine Dion and Maybe Timbo outside of choreo .. f*** a opinion
..the real problem is that the rhetorical devices used in the OP to make an overarching point is being missed lol

Usher is more successful than Timberlake though....
Wai he is.. damn I ain know timbo was down bad like that. Whew ..looks I overrated my guy a bit lol

i think streaming is changing a lot of things, there's a lot more opportunity for growth. that said, as long as i'm alive, black people will probably be disadvantaged in show business unfortunately
hip hop is huge today tho, and mostly has black people at the forefront from my perspective.
as far as your billboard stars and VMA/Grammy winners, that's up to the labels and they historically favor white people
So when you think about it. Do you think we’ll ever see truly gifted artist like the left side to their magnitude emerge from white artist on a more consistent basis if labels ever search for other patrons that have equal measure in talent and standards of quality that they require from black patrons?
‘but you have to do it in simmilar genres’ - no, I don’t..
You clearly understand and it’s valid.. and going by your parameters Jodeci and Blackstreet Boys and Whitney and Madonna and the like that you say were ‘legitimate’ don’t operate in ‘similar genres’ either along with Britney and Beyonce ..how hard is it not to get wrapped in semantics and just draw the accurate correlation I‘ve been explainin over and over
😬
Whitney & Madonna makes sense. Whitney had more range but she also made pop-ish music
I didn't see the Jodeci and Backstreet Boys one, that's also somewhat flawed (though they do both occupy the boy band lane, so at least it makes a bit more sense)
Your notion that Taylor and Frank are "peers" because they both make "coming of age" music is like saying Rex Orange County and Drake occupy the same lane becuase they both make simp music
Examples
MJ and Prince - Beatles and Elvis
Whitney and Janet - Celine and Madonna
Jay/Nas - Eminem
Boys II Men and Jodeci - N’Sync n Backstreet B
Beyonce and Usher - Britney n Timberlake
Chris Brown - Justin Beiber
Frank Ocean - Taylor Swift
The talent scale is disproportionate on one side, yet the level of success on the right side rivals and even supplants the other. How long will this continue? Will there ever be balance on both sides to where white artists are pushed to match the level of musical excellence as their black counterparts?
idk. Em, the Renegade and Nas with the Ether?
