  • When you have enough money that just managing/investing it and getting average returns is enough to support your lifestyle for the rest of your life

    So like 500k that you have in S&P 500, and 50k you have to live on. 550k
    Every year you should get ~10% return, so you take out the 50k to live on and then let the 500k make another 50k

    This is assuming you don’t work at all and make no contributions to it which is very unlikely, so you’ll end up being even better off

    In complete honesty id probably just become a freelance software dev, and only do projects that interest me.
