It's not hard you just have to overcome the self consciousnesses.
Step 1): Find a gym near where you live. The closer it is, the more likely you are to workout consistently.
    2) Take a barbell, lay on a bench and lift it up and down. The next day, lay it down on the floor and lift it up without moving your back while standing up. The next day, put the barbell on your back and squat 10 times. Repeat all of those 3 times and take rest days intermittently. Run on a treadmill for 10 minutes each day after lifting.

should have clarified but i'm trying to lean out. worried about only relying on cardio as i heard it could lower testosterone.

some cardio is good for overall health but what really makes you lose weight is being in a calorie deficit. around 300 calories less than your maintenance , 500 if you want to be more aggressive with it but no less than that.

  • If there’s machines at your apartment use the the machines

  • I’ve been using the 5/3/1 program for the past 9 years now and it is quite simple

The only thing with the program u have to figure out your 1RM (1 Rep Max) by yourself probably need a spotter

Otherwise it’s really easy to follow and progress your rep max and strength

wow that's freaking awesome. good for you my guy. i'm not going for a complete body transformation--I have pretty broad shoulders so I hold the weight well considering my height. but i'm definitely looking to cut weight and add muscle.

had experience losing 40 pounds on a mix of keto and intermittent fasting (does wonders when you mix the two). i've kept intermittent fasting but dropped keto just to maintain my weight. pretty decent with counting calories as I usually aim for 1300-1500 per day (although welcome week has definitely thrown that for a loop). appreciate the advice! will follow that for sure.

    godspeed you bro

I’m 5’9 175 with a dad bod. Gotta start working out before it’s too late but I have no idea where to start. My apartment complex has a gym inside and it would be a waste if I didn’t utilize it now. Anyone have some basic workout routines that are good for beginners?

Set reasonable goals for yourself. If you haven't exercised before or in a while set realistic timelines.

At the beginning aim for 4x a week just BEING in the gym and moving around. Don't worry if you feel out of place just BEING there is half the battle. Even doing treadmill for 20 minutes 4x a week will go a long way.

Someone mentioned bodybuilding.com they have tons of guides. Any of them will work for you since you are starting out. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WEIGHT AT ALL just focus on doing the exercise correctly. Muscle will come.

Finally working out is great but this is like 70% diet. If you treat your body badly by feeding it junk you will feel like junk. Take the time to learn what you are eating. I used an app like myfitnesspal and it helped me a lot to learn what to cut out and how to have a healthy relationship with food.

I had a dad bod and lost it and got it back.

Running, sit ups, planks, and eating my dinner 3-4 hours before bed got me right in about 6 weeks

  • Sep 5, 2021

    Stop overthinking.

Just go to the gym it’s not hard bro. Hardest part is consistently doing it on days you don’t want to

Look up a beginners program and start from there

    Don’t stress about anything else

First thing you gon need is for someone to hold you accountable it’s real easy to fall off of sumn if you alone in it, you got any friends into fitness already
