etantI find it strange how Spotify vs Netflix is actually so different. I dont think it is possible for artist to be exclusive only one platform, eg drake's views was only exclusive for a week. like do you think its possible in the future ppl would both be on AM and spotify, like they are for netflix and disney. I dont think it is, i feel music is much more commoditied then movies and TV. So people aren't willing to pay as much for it.
On a second note, do you think it is possible for spotify and AM to replace music labels. Cause if you think about it now days most artist can just do promotion by them selves on social media, and if they manage to get into one of the playlist thats the best type of promotion. Really leaving music label as the useless middle man
labels are already the useless middle man since artists can promote their music on socials like tik tok and instagram for free. Only benefit to labels rn is that they are cutting artists million dollar checks so they can make their music (studio time, producers etc.)
