as much as i love saturday, would’ve been better if he released that the summer pack. atavista is the intro we needed. human sacrifice i kind of wasn't expecting after he said he was only gonna perform it live
yall gassed tf out those tracks anyways tbh
If Fantano gave it a 4, and he gave BTI a 5....and if Pitchfork gave this a 6 and gave BTI a 5.8....
this is a classic just like BTI
does anyone else think this isn't it? i feel like there has to be more to this. seems too strange for donald not to do a whole roll out that means something. idk a little disappointed

The "Donald Glover Presents" attachment to this project, and the fact he just ended his association with Adidas, makes part of me think that this was to get out of his deal with them. But I still liked the album regardless
32.22 sounds like a mashup between Kanye West - God Level and ...

Book 1
Book 1
Here’s my theory:
He has stated before that he thinks things should have endings. He says it’s lame if they don’t. Nothing should go on forever. I think what he’s doing with both this “Book 1” quote and the 4 panel cover art is already setting the music under Donald Glover up for an ending. I believe this album was both the last Childish Gambino album and first Donald Glover album, the first of 4 albums aka ‘books’ under the Donald Glover name. I don’t think the next book is imminent at all. It could be years in between each book. But I think eventually, over time, there will be three more Donald Glover albums and then he’ll truly stop releasing music.
Idk though

good theory
but I think the 4 covers was just 4 sections of the art he was debating on using for the cover art, cause the art itself was really long and album covers have to be square
the book 1 thing tho

so this is donald's endless ? would be crazy

The hype man in me pushed this theory for so long but after that Dahi interview it seems highly unlikely. They sat with these songs and worked on them for years.
We have no real reason to believe any 2nd album is coming soon. Atavista was an intro but was replaced. Human Sacrifice turned into Why Go To The Party (and they intentionally avoided hit/radio songs hence scrapping what would've been the biggest songs). Saturday was meant for the context of Guava Island / SNL. TIA was its own moment.
There aren't any songs left (that we've heard) other than the Cudi jawn which also would've fit on this album and was apparently scrapped. They want this project, as is, to simmer with everyone. No hype no bs no cover no track names, just the music.

Still sucks. As much as it makes sense for those songs to not make the album, why even tease them to a point where they're so prominent in his marketing and live shows.
It bothers me that people have been waiting 2 years for HS and Saturday to drop and the guy may never put out music again. If Saturday was only planned for Guava Island, then why not release that as a single when trying to promote Guava Island?
I feel more of those songs were planned for the album than what most are saying. There was another large scale plan here that was abandoned, I'd be willing to bet.
Atlanta's production hold might have had something big to do with it also.
I tried, I just could not get through this. I actually love BTI, it’s one of my top 10 albums oat but this is just a mess. This doesn’t even seem remotely thought out.

I do think it’s strange that the “Donald Glover Presents” and artwork of everyone going crazy is nonexistent for the actual album release.
What was the point in showing us that artwork and “DGP” if it’s just named the album the date it was streamed and a blank album cover?
Seems weird like there could be something more
Also, we’ve heard nothing from Bino at all promoting it and he names MOST song titles a time stamp?
Like I feel he did everything to NOT get attention for this album
Regardless I absolutely love this album but it’s still weird
i hate endings.
but i see the necessity. donald's growth as an artist and a person is inspirational.

they uploaded the version of this with no cuts as one long song credited as donald glover presents on streaming and that version has donald glover presents on the cover
only theory ive seen for it that makes sense is that donald and team didnt want it out as a traditional album experience but the label did so they did both
