Rocky was always a model. His entire persona was crafted by another man if we talking music artistry, sure. But passed that, I think Rocky can speak to a lot of things Travis will just say “make that s*** darker”

Rocky was the first rapper I’ve seen at least pay homage to Gaspar Noe, this was in like 2014, first and probably only rapper to put Dean Blunt all over their mainstream release

I disagree. Travis is great at taking inspiration from others like Ye Cudi and Rocky and repackaging it as his own, but it never feels natural and organic

Even the things being pointed out in the op, Rocky is literally married to and male brand ambassador to a billionaire’s clothing line and sitting next to Anna Wintour at the Met Gala, an event she created, helping make creative decisions in fashion on top of that A$AP signed a Nike deal before Travis and Virgil wouldn’t have been Virgil without the mob boosting the f*** outta Pyrex. Even Ye wasn’t pushing that s*** lmfao

Travis Scott really is an auteur with weak taste. I guess this is why he is so frictionless and able to just be a vessel for whatever producers and collaborators the industry gives him. Having a distinguished palette would mean having some convictions and strong opinions about things and that is an impediment to McDonalds and Fortnite sponsorships.

Trav's music has more mass appeal so it lends itself more to brandability. At least it has for a while. I feel like the cool, new york "pretty flacko" brand Rocky has cultivated can only be so big without ceasing to be cool, whereas Trav is cynically open about being the rap equivalent of the Goodyear blimp.

Goes without saying. Asap Rocky has the pretenses of an artist but Trav, as much as he is all about the "vibes" as a rapper, is actually an artist.
