    D Dot

TPAB was originally supposed to be his debut, but he was unsure of himself at the time so he temporarily vaulted the project. He said this in an interview back in 2015.

He says he wanted to make an album like TPAB not that he literally made it and held it

    1. It didn’t reach DAMN numbers but that’s because bundles aren’t really a thing anymore and it had no singles before the album aside from The Heart Part 5 which was clearly not supposed to be for the charts. Still the highest selling rap album first week so far this year and unlikely to be topped by anyone aside from Drake.

    2. It received high praise just like TPAB did. Not quite reaching the height of TPABs reception, but that’s because TPAB is one of the best reviewed albums of all time.

Just say it ain’t for you next time because that’s totally fair, but to act like no one liked it or it didn’t appeal to anyone is at best ignorant and at worst stupid.

DAMN is 3x platinum. Commercial success isn't just first week sales. DAMN had 100+ weeks on the Billboard 200 because people were consistently listening to it. Mr. Morale on the other hand is declining fast. As for TPAB, it is the most critically acclaimed rap album of the century, other than maybe MBDTF. Mr, Morale didn't get nearly the acclaim. Just because you liked the album doesn't mean it is nearly as successful as earlier projects.

    What does that even mean

what it means is there were a lot of tracks that are just not replayable outside of the album

    worldwide steppers
    rich (interlude)
    we cry together
    united in grief
    crown
    savior (interlude)
    auntie diaries
    mother i sober

these are great records, but for example... i will never be chillin and think to myself "i should play Auntie Diaries". thats not happening

Seeing future outsell kendrick is kinda surreal tho

  • Jun 12, 2022

for me I think a lot of its messaging was dope and cool but I also thought it was corny at some points as well. Its kinda how I felt DAMN should of been in a regard: a pretty ok album with some hits. But it also could be a factor in which you just talk to like. no niggas who listen to the album often.

That's the thing though, there is mainstream friendly production all over the album. People just aren't listening.

Besides calling me dumb with no counter argument doesn’t make me any less right

Hey man, I didn't wanna come in this thread and agree with Zackfromthesix, cause I love MMBS, but you're just not understanding what he's saying here.

Future's album sold 61,000 units last week. He dropped his album 6 weeks ago.

Kendrick's album sold 54,000 units last week. He dropped his album 4 weeks ago.

Traditionally weekly sales go down over time. Kendrick's sales are decreasing at a faster rate than Future's. The numbers indicate that the general public is more interested in Future's album than Kendrick's album.

With all that being said, Kendrick dropped AOTY.

I don’t think people who don’t like unique beats in comparison to hi hats and 808s are simple minded just that their palate aren’t wide enough.

I know a lot of people PERSONALLY who hated TPAB because it didn’t have enough Hi Hats and 808s. Knowing damn well they would love the album if it had the latter

So in regards to that that's where i’m coming from with this

Futures album is selling more in both total sales and weekly which again can be attributed to having a two full weeks on Kendrick.

You can’t possibly think it to be a fair comparison to where for example

Future sold for 10 weeks to Kendrick selling for 8 weeks

I don’t even care about the numbers but destroying your logic hits different

Kendrick is supposed to sell more in 5 weeks than Future in 10.
