This is a baby level understanding of music

You can’t reason with posters like that. “He’s trying to recreate TPAB cus its a conscious album”

I wish pop fans would just stay in the billboard thread.

He never really had that big of a fan base imo.

    How so

All of his albums are “conscious” lmfao. It’s not trying to be like any of his albums it’s trying to be Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, It’s called progression. The last thing this album makes me think is he tried to make it like anything or to cater to people, he made it for himself

    Future dropped the better album

That's my point. He tried to make an album for himself but he couldn't fully commit and ended up with a handful of commercial joints on the album, and he ended up with neither the sales of DAMN or the acclaim of TPAB.

this is real. I feel like a lot of people just parrot the thought of "TPAB is the best album ever made!" which isn't inherently wrong but also I feel a lot of people who agree actually do not listen to his other s*** LOL

Hey man, I didn't wanna come in this thread and agree with Zackfromthesix, cause I love MMBS, but you're just not understanding what he's saying here.

Future's album sold 61,000 units last week. He dropped his album 6 weeks ago.

Kendrick's album sold 54,000 units last week. He dropped his album 4 weeks ago.

Traditionally weekly sales go down over time. Kendrick's sales are decreasing at a faster rate than Future's. The numbers indicate that the general public is more interested in Future's album than Kendrick's album.

With all that being said, Kendrick dropped AOTY.

    Gotcha

This doesnt even make sense cause his other s*** is way more popular in comparison to TPAB

Yall really dont be thinking before you post

to be honest with you besides a couple singles and s*** played in other s*** I personally do not find this to be true which is no disrespect to kendrick I just think a lot of niggas do not listen to music/have a diverse palate

  • Jun 12, 2022

When you say this, what do you mean? Radio hits? It's still streaming/selling well

  • Jun 12, 2022

    its not good

  • Jun 12, 2022

Because the biggest moment on the album was an Eminem esque song that sounds like the instrumental is being played in the censored version

Nigga its not a matter of your opinion. Like what youre saying is factually untrue. GKMC and DAMN are way more popular than TPAB so saying his fans dont listen to his other stuff as much as TPAB is wrong. Theres really nothing to argue about cause youre just wrong

you see this is implying I was talking about legit Kendrick heads who do love his s*** but in the regard of people who Parrot that opinion, I am not talking about them but I understand like yeah I like GKMC more, but at the end of the day from what i've seen I don't see locals or da mainstream f***ing with those projects as projects

This makes 0 sense to what your original argument was LMAO like wtf. And he didn’t “try” he DID commit, even the ‘commercial’ sounding songs have the same themes and topics of the albums and follow it. Who gives a f*** about sales in this argument, ever consider maybe he was inspired to make it and felt like he needed to cus he’s an artist. All of his major studio albums have had these type of songs to some degree. Art has become so commercialized and quantitative that people forget artists can make s*** for themselves

That’s fine you can feel however you want. This whole argument was cus you said it was trying to be TPAB and your reasoning made 0 f***ing sense and gave me light brain damage

The brain damage must have been pre-existing because the argument is pretty coherent

You said he is trying to make it like TPAB cus it’s a “conscious” album, which is dumb as f***, and then you said actually he was going for the acclaim of TPAB, which was not your original argument, and not a coherent one because DAMN ended up being more of an overall acclaimed critic loved album anyway
