How are you going to just insult me and not take the actual content of the message in???
to get a reaction with 3 question marks
It’s annoying but being part of this community that has people who share my same passion gives me hope
True it is nice that people here do actually care about good music
Not to be rude or anything but I find this constant complaining a bit counter productive. You could have used those 3 paragraphs to incite discourse but you chose to complain as usual because no one wants to talk about Casey veggies. There’s a decent amount of users here who enjoy discussing music, I’m sorry it’s just not the music you want to talk about
I wasn't really talking about ktt2 though. I was talking about the spread of other discourse in other platforms. Obviously on this site there are people who do like good music which is nice.
Also LOL at the Casey veggies name drop
What's the other two reasons?
1. Women are the predominant "consumers" of music. Cater to the market, when an artist aims to make a club records, they're subsequently attempting to appeal to the consuming demographic... Women. But now those women ARE the rappers.
2. Women are playing catch-up. Rap and Hip Hop have been a male dominated genre and industry since its inception. We've already had 50 years of men sticking to convention, now it's the women's turn while their male contemporaries are incentivized to experiment. Yachty can make a rock album, whereas female rap isn't in the space where Megan Thee Stallion can come out with a full RnB album.
Kids like to piss off adults its just natural order
Our gen was doing the same s*** when we were young, when you would see funny takes like Waka Flocka > Beatles out of nowhere
Dont take it too seroously man. A lot of the younger gen loves and respects older music.
Look on the bright side.. the fact that there is discourse means there is pushback from the direction rap is trending towards.

i feel like this generation respects older music more than like millennials respected older music there’s definitely a demand for that lane
This convo is tired, rap sold its self out 3x over, and all these stupid sub-generes within the medium has clouded the newer generation on what a rapper is suppose to be, while also devaluing the craft of actually being a rapper. We're at a point where anyone can be a rapper, we're at a point where being a rapper is basically just being an entertainer, cause the genre is so amateur hour now.
Hip Hop let all those people who would call real lyricist like a Lupe "stupid", join in, and actually make Hip Hop stupid as hell, cause those outsiders thought this s*** was a joke in the first place. This conversation is just tired, move on.
We old enough to see how rap has changed for the worse as it became the most popular genre.
I blame the cacs
This s*** ebbs and flows. If you’re actually old enough to remember you’d know we’re in no worse state than we were during the ringtone era

Ehh, debatable
Nostalgia goggles aside, people weren't s***ting on the classics back in the day calling it protest/Harriet Tubman music. Maybe backpacking, but eh, even then.
As a white man myself born from two black parents, I disagree with everything you said.
I love the direction hip hop discourse is going in and I hope it continues to get worse, or in my opinion better.

Lupe objectively has made some worse music than a lot of these young kids

Key word "objectively", Lupe has proven himself within his craft vs Young dudes with 0 craft beyond what their bosses/execs think and how to fit into current trends.
