Yes you literally can. You keep trying to make it seem like I'm saying they don't exist when I'm not. You niggas are going through hoop after hoop rn to admit the facts that I'm stating. it's crazy

Why do you think you can ignore 35 years of history that’s absolutely necessary to understand what grime is and how it sounds lol

There is literally no grime without those genres. Grime would not have been a think if only hip hop existed and those other genres didn’t. Then it would just all be UK hip hop and not grime lol

It kinda does. It's a wide wide reaching genre. it's not a bad thing idk why yall act like it is.

It wouldn’t be a bad thing if that were true but it’s just objectively false

    Hip hop influenced grime.

That doesnt mean it's a product or subgenre of hip hop

I disagree but ok. that wasn't even my point. What you said before that was what I was trying to get these niggas to admit to.

Grime is far more influenced by the genres I have stated than anything the US has produced.

Sure you can say that (I don't agree but go for it) but it's still influenced by it heavily. (Not saying what you listed doesn't outweigh hip hop's influence)

UK hip-hop was more popular than grime for many years, that is a different genre.

But neither were nearly as popular as US Hip hop. And both those things you named are influenced by it. That's all I'm saying and you niggas are losing it

Some garage and grime MCs were influenced more by American music, some less. In the late 00s, most MCs were doing hip-hop and not grime. Grime is an electronic genre unlike hip-hop, thus having some of the pecularities of electronic music (like an emphasis on singles over albums, bunch of remixes and instrumentals being released, bunch of DJing playlists and so on).

Grime had a revival in the mid 2010s and now there are more grime artists again.

UK drill is a hip-hop subgenre (stemming from Chicago drill) with some grime influences.

Here is a garage MC influenced by US east coast hip-hop like Illmatic, 2002:

Ok man. I just can't drill it into your head that I'm not ignoring anything just because I don't want to write a f***ing 8 paragraph manifesto explaining how every genre including hip hop made grime.

No one discusses music like that on here. No one breaks down every individual genre that goes into making a type of music.

They would if half the site would keep claiming that Hiphop is nothing but a subgenre of soul music
