Also makonnen didn’t even like Drake he only signed to OVO because 2/3 of the owners are white and he didn’t wanna sign to LA Reid, because he’s a BLACK man
this thread has nothing to do with you missing ilm. this is just another roundabout way for you to talk about drake and suck his d***
Drake stans worse than beta males
F*** allat, makonnen too pure for this industry bs. He shoulda stayed indie tbh
so pure he was acting like he’s OVO Trump and started crying when they got his ass outta there
The story goes
Makonnen & his manager get their very first invite to Drake house to work on music.
Makonnen does not announce that he got his boyfriend with him. Thinks he’s a hot shot now so he doesn’t have to.
Drake’s already inside the studio working and s***. They pull on him. Makonnen boyfriend presents himself in speedos, leaving Drake baffled. He starts fanning out on Drake.
After that Makonnen’s entire presence was filled with inconveniences and f*** ups on his end. Like for example dissing Troy Ave, who was close to Drake’s good friend and personal trainer.
His manager detailed how he had dude working with everybody and in everybody good graces. None of these people showed love to Makonnen after the manager left. It’s entirely his fault he fumbled his shot.
He acted like a b**** and got what he deserved.
Defending him either means you’re uninformed or a b****
Y’all gotta remember it’s a record BUSINESS. Makonnen had a hit in him but seemed like an all around bad business choice. And he didn’t make any hits after that either
This. People act like OVO is some playclub lmao. Its a record label. ILM had potential but he was doing weird s***, not puthing out hits and also, he wanted to drop music on his own terms.
Even with all that s*** everything ended respectfully. Thats how goat OVO is.
anyone who says makonnen is trash itt i know for a fact you don't listen to his music
Imagine blaming drake 💀💀💀
Dudes music was ass bro
so trash that he was signed to ovo 😹 and drake hopped on his song 😹
anyone who says makonnen is trash itt i know for a fact you don't listen to his music
I don't think he was trash but he was too gimmicky
Don't think I've heads a new makkonnen song in a long time though
That song w/ Gleesh and Fredo Hard.
"Gas on deck and u know that fool, I get everybody high
In yo middle school"
He didn't make more appealing music to those outside of his super inclusive and ready-to-support fanbase, which is something you have to consider if you're going to be underneath a big brand and huge figure like Drake.
Clearly there was potential to create more melodic, fun and enjoyable songs, but most of what was released following (and prior to) his signing to OVO was just not good. His projects were bloated with just overall bad tracks. Drink More Water 4/5 had some very solid songs, but nobody would really f*** with them like that.
Add in the tension between him and his boyfriend with Drake in the studio situation, mental health and pressure from the spotlight so suddenly and you get an artist that just couldn't manage himself and his own craft in that moment. It happens.
His stuff with Peep was nice, and it again shows he can make amazing things, but we can't all sit here and pretend a lot of what he was producing was anything more than mid. This is coming from someone who was listening to DMW2.
I do feel bad that it turned out this way. It's super unfortunate.
BACK TO SELLING MOLLY 😭
Something like he brought his Boyfriend to the studio with drake
And his bf tried to flirt with drake and drake didnt like it
You don’t believe this do you sounds like such a ktt made up story
I’m gay but if you pulling up to the studio with your boytoy wet and in speedos im gonna feel a way about you
You don’t believe this do you sounds like such a ktt made up story
makkonen's manager was the one who said it
I don't think he was trash but he was too gimmicky
Don't think I've heads a new makkonnen song in a long time though
What was the gimmick?
People acting like that's a reasonable reason to drop someone from a label when Baka a whole abuser and Drake close with Ian Connor is funny.
His standards wild
What was the gimmick?
I mean you heard his music right? It's very unique but boxed into a sound because of how he sings
I like it but a lot of dudes were cursed by that kind of stuff too
I still love his early work but it relies on the shtick of his voice and how he uses it, kind of like rmr
