Its entirely my own fault but over the past few years I just leaned super heavily into these genres and yeah my favorite music is definitely hip-hop and r&b but I just found myself ignoring other genres entirely
I was recently shown Tame Impala (more than just the few big songs) and it absolutely blew my mind..Im getting back into rock music again and alternative and even some old country and I (personally) feel that there's a lot more substance to a lot of it than a lot of the trap I was listening to
Edit: I still have such a love for R&B and hip-hop and its totally okay to only listen to this Im just super excited to get more music in my life
Basically there's just a whole world of music out there and I spent high school + 2 years not exploring that outside of rap & R&B and I regret it

It's not too late...
you didn’t box yourself in, Tame Impala is the token “i’m not like the other people my age, i listen to other music” band

Im not trying to be "different" I just really like Tame Impala Ive learned lol
idk i feel like I had a "waking up" moment randomly one day and just stopped liking a s*** ton of music I used to it all feels like its about nothing

oh yeah for sure im diving into all sorts of music now
I used to just not press play on anything that wasnt hip-hop or R&B and that was rlly lame of me I feel like
Also getting back into Pink Floyd and Fall Out Boy and more of the stuff I used to like before I got into rap its really been nice I missed guitars a lot
there’s nothing wrong with only liking rap/r&b
don’t trust people who say otherwise

So much music to explore, well at least you starting to warm up to none rap/r&b music.

drop literally any reccomendations from any genre at all I'll check it all out
theres never been a better time to explore music with how available everything is right now, enjoy it!
I've done this, except I never listened to anything else prior.
I like bass too much to ever shy away from Hip Hop
if your music tastes/artists are right, the acts you like typically will just mesh into other genres naturally.
It's never a good experience to try to force yourself into listening to another genre/type of music you never grew up on nor did you ever have a naturally liking for in the first place.

This is a natural progression for kids growing up in 2021. Rap, r&b is what you grow with then you leave that bubble and want to branch out. No coincidence there are more rock, pop, reggaeton, etc.. threads on KTT now than ever before. Kids are growing up. Rap is also at its worst point ever so theres so FOMO going on
