you been dealing with some s*** for some time now
Yeah it’s a constant battle of hanging on and giving up tbh
Same man we gotta change..
Anybody else find it f***ed up that our generation is filled with mental illness
I’m not diagnosed with anything, never really thought i was doing bad enough to warrant therapy, but I read thru mental illness warning signs from time to time and I can’t help but feel like “holy s*** this is describing me” like depression, anxiety, adhd, more I can’t think of off the top of my head
But I know I’m not knowledgeable enough to say what I do or don’t have, and researching any kind of illnesses online can cause people to think they have it, so I just don’t know
Its just really weird how glorified it is too, like yes it’s okay to be anxious or depressed but the goal shouldn’t be to just accept it, it should always be to have a clearer healthy and more comfortable mental state
i don't there's anything fundamentally different about our generation that's making us more prone to mental illness
our parents dealt with the same issues we do, but they coped in whatever way they knew (working harder, alcohol, religion, etc)
i really think that increased awareness of mental illness and recognizing things like depression and feeling anxious changes the way we process them. it sucks once you've put a name to the reasons why you feel bad, but being aware of what ails you is the first step toward solving it.
i agree with technology and automation-related issues being exclusive to our generation, but to say that the working class haven't dealt with economic hardship in the past is just inaccurate (which isn't to downplay the situation we're in today i.e. student loans & (further?) entrenched oligarchy, but i'm saying that the oligarchy has always been there)
again, i really think that thanks to the internet and modern mass media, people are more than ever becoming aware of the problems that plague society. it's tough to recognize that you're a member of a system that has swallowed up plenty of people before you, but it's this recognition that's causing mental illness as opposed to the problems themselves.
