Just remind people your birthday is coming up and send them a birthday wishlist. Same way you told the community here and recieved happy birthdays, you can do the same irl and get everything you feel you didn't get

Lower your expectations, it's only really kids who get the focused, everyone remembers birthday treatment

As you get older you have to rely on yourself for good birthdays. Like I will work any day and holiday, but I don’t work on my birthday or 4/20. You should have requested off weeks ago for your birthday and saved up some money so you could treat yourself.

Honestly though, I wasn't grandstanding or faking. It's strange to me for an adult to get upset about other people not remembering your birthday. @Babushka is spitting, that "It's your special day, it's all about you" treatment is for kids. The date on the man made calendar we use to measure time matches the same date you were born on, big deal. It's really just like any other day I'd tell anyone this to their face, being on an anonymous site has nothing to do with my feelings on this

Your birthday is just like any other day. The universe don't give a f*** about no birthday, the sun rises and sets as usual. The sooner you realize that, the better

And someone wishing you happy birthday doesn't mean they care about you, someone not wishing you doesn't necessarily mean they don't care about you
