Ray tapped into the same thing Bowie and Bolan did which is just an abundance of empathy and love for all the misfits that listen to rock and roll I can be cynical too but I don't think it's the energy to run with

Yeah damn that sucks. Even back to '68 this was one of the best new songs I found could listen on repeat it's so good

If you're actually eternally wishing about it let me make you a playlist and you can make me a Zappa one for '72

Electric Warrior is one of my favorite albums of all time and The Slider isn't that far behind, but I will agree that I have never been able to get into the early Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff. It's not bad, just not my favorite in that style by any stretch.

Tbf... after Bob Dylan came to Jan Werner's support over his racist & misogynistic comments about 'women & coloured people's inability to understand music like the real white male geniuses of music'

F**k him too, we off Blonde on Blonde

Edit: direct quote from Bob at a concert in the aftermath of Jann receiving consequences for his words & actions

“All right, like to say hello to Jann Wenner who’s in the house. Jann Wenner, surely everybody’s heard of him. Anyway, he just got booted out of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame - and we don’t think that’s right, we’re trying to get him back in.” — Bob Dylan 11/16/23

lol come on, it aint that deep

would be one thing if wenner was, like, a rapist, or if dylan actually said what wenner did (which was indeed f***ed up old head bigotry), but he's just chatting positively offhand at a show about a guy he's been bros with for like sixty years.

not saying it wouldn't be ideal if dylan didn't say this, but he's said a million oddball and/or out of pocket things over the years, half contradicting the other half. it's not like he's gonna treat wenner like a pariah or feel social obligation to; imo, it's an acceptably stubborn expression of dylan's contrarian spirit. its not like he's started going on Joe Rogan to talk about Wokeness for seven hours or something

I was completely joking with the post...

Although I added to quote to give Bob some more slack

    But sure, go off fam

They wasn't even interested to ask what she thinks about....Rolling Stones....duh

  • I love the Beatles and Dylan but also think it's completely ok to not be another d***rider for 60s old white men mount rushmore tbh like even while I do think they were evidently super influential and made timeless music this whole everyone has to agree they're the best thing is lame when it comes to music.

being critical of the canon and coming up w your own is usually much more interesting. like especially since this is a woman giving her perspective think it's fair that she's not subscribing to old white men telling her these old white men are the gold standard for what she's doing tbh lol

In a strange way this is a very Bob Dylan thing to say.

Never heard her music but she’s entitled to her opinion. Not everyone needs to love every artist, even historically great ones 🤷‍♀️

I don't recall Dylan talking s*** on other musicians very much tbh. If anything he's a giant fanboy to of a ton of artists.

You're right. I think to me this interpretation of his character is from select clips from Don't Look Back where he seems to bury Donovan.

Dylan got the reputation of being like an icon of counter culture, but he definitely digs the beatles and shouts them out on Rough And Rowdy Ways.

I don't know the dude so my take is worth jack s***.

right yeah he was brutal to poor lil Donovan in that scene how else you gonna react to your carbon copy though. im sure he put some respect on him within a couple years when Donovan shockingly developed into his own unique artist.

I do enjoy hearing artists s*** talk each other but I admire guys like Dylan and PTA who actively avoid it.
