  • I teach grade schoolers at my church and they behaved very well at Mass the other week so I wanted to do something special for them. I spoke to the coordinator and suggested doing a trail mix bar where they can make their own mix and instead she just suggested pizza and ice cream because thats what the kids will like most

I hate that I'm going to have to do a back and forth to try and convince her to do something nutritious and healthy for them. I aint saying shes a bad person or anything the problem is bigger than her, its just tiresome and really disheartening that the common attitude towards treat ideas for kids

they already have an assortment of options for sugary snacks when they come in after school they really dont need another one right after that one, at least have it be a bit nutritious

  • Yeah this s*** stupid as hell

Like why does food for literal babies have ADDED SUGAR in it

Imagine walking into class thinking you’re getting a pizza party with coke and vanilla ice cream and the teacher pulls up with granola bars

Leave the nutrition to the parents OP
A lot of these parents feeding their kids trash though so they really are doomed either way

  • Isn’t it possible to treat the kids in some non food way? Cus ain’t no way kids gonna be happy with some celery snack.

  • it is incredibly depressing. i feel like the moral baseline for a society is to take care of their children and elderly. we have failed our children (at least in the U.S.)

  • wild how we market "food" like cereal and candy, using cartoony figures to promote the stuff and airing ads on kid channels lol diabolical

Theres many reasons besides diet why one might become fat. Look up feast or famine

Also as i said eating dumbo amounts of sugar and not exercising is obv. Unhealthy. These ppl ur talking about probably drank coke and ate candy and pastries on a daily basis. And adults have much lower metabolisms than kids

I ate cereal pretty regularly as a kid and im not even remotely fat. See first thing i said

  • People are fat because we are sedentary office workers not because of cereal

Sugar is a normal healthy part of any diet

Yea eating healthy is important and great especially if ur genetics are weird and ur susceptable to weight gain or diabetes etc.

Kids cant buy s*** tho. Parents do, so i dont rly see the issue with advertisements, kids always want all types of random s*** aa a parent u gotta decide what they need and what they dont need

I lived off sugar as a kid and I was skin and bones lol

I am not saying we should ban sugar in general, but it is good idea as parents to introduce a healthy and nutritious diet to your children so they can have a healthy relationship with eating.

The fact that kid's snack are full of sugar and marketed toward feeding BABIES is legit insane and stupid and unnecessary. I do not think a pizza & ice cream party should not happen, but every snack and treat doesn't need to be HFCS instead of using fruit or whole foods, it makes it a difficult and high-barrier task to give something nutritious yet tasty to kids .

youre not wrong but the thing is kids will be happy with whatver treat they get. thats just people in general too, they appreciate gesture they aren't entitled or obligated to

highly doubt any kid getting to go around and pick how they want their trail mix will actually go, "I wish this was pizza" when you think about it they could say that about any meal or treat
